I worked at IDEXX Laboratories full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great working spaces, benefits, location, on-site cafes, and work that makes you feel like you've done something good for the world.

    Cons

The workload is immense and the politics are out of this world. Getting ahead is often about who you know rather than your actual work, and supervisors can hold you back from obtaining different positions within the company.

    Advice to Management

Rather than continuously searching for the "next best thing", invest in your employee's development.

I worked at IDEXX Laboratories full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

$4 an hour shift differential made it easy to overlook alot of the negatives about working nights. Great group of knowledgeable, motivated and hard working coworkers.

    Cons

There needs to be a better injury prevention program in place. Repetitive motion injuries were happening all too often. There was alot of communication breakdown between shifts that left my shift picking up alot of the slack every night. Increase employees salaries as they move into positions that require alot of technical skill and training.

I have been working at IDEXX Laboratories as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of attention to detail to create a work atmosphere that is open and collaborative. Break rooms, restrooms and food stations are set up at regular intervals (kind of like a theme park). Little details regarding the artwork, etc. is nice.
People are friendly and will know that you are new and "you look lost" and are more than willing to help you.

    Cons

Confusing to find your way from place to place at first. Not a place for someone who can not take initiative and be a self starter and critically think through a problem as many of the managers are in meetings.
