I worked at IDEXX Laboratories full-time

    Pros

Pay is decent and a lot of PTO.

    Cons

The worst, most toxic place I have ever worked. Night supervisor regularly picks a few people to bully until they quit. Definitely don't work here if you're LGBT. Lots of actively cultivated racial tension and back stabbing. Micro management is crazy.

    Advice to Management

    Clean house on management.

Former Employee - Inside Sales Representative in Westbrook, ME

I worked at IDEXX Laboratories full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Decent people on the team I worked on. The ability to form relationships based off of similar shared terrible experiences helped the team bond.

    Cons

In terms of the software side of things there seems to be little to no hope. The people in charge have no idea what they are doing. No one is held responsible except the sales team. The answer of "it is what it is" doesn't help when you are trying to sell to clinics. It's difficult to sell a product to a clinic when you know it will make their jobs more difficult instead of easier. Also, little to no respect for inside sales team as compared to outside.

There also seems to be a feeling at the Thomas Drive location that everyone over there is dispensable. The pay is not competitive and Idexx has been coasting on their reputation in Maine for too long instead of paying people what they are worth. Don't go on the news and say that there is an open space throughout the company and that the company doesn't believe in cube farms when you have a giant cube farm less than a mile away from the corporate headquarters.

Also, don't ask for employees opinions in surveys if you never plan to take any action on what the feedback actually is.

    Advice to Management

Reevaluate certain leaders. make sure that the leadership you put in place actually knows the area they are in charge of and can handle the job. Also, give actual answers to questions instead of just giving bad news and then cutting off communication.
