I worked at IDEXX Laboratories full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

$4 an hour shift differential made it easy to overlook alot of the negatives about working nights. Great group of knowledgeable, motivated and hard working coworkers.

    Cons

There needs to be a better injury prevention program in place. Repetitive motion injuries were happening all too often. There was alot of communication breakdown between shifts that left my shift picking up alot of the slack every night. Increase employees salaries as they move into positions that require alot of technical skill and training.

I have been working at IDEXX Laboratories full-time

    Pros

IDEXX is really focused on employee well-being, and have added such things as a gym, a medical clinic, and several cafeterias that are quite upscale.

    Cons

My only gripe is that the commute is long for me, but the rest makes it worth it.

    Advice to Management

Thank you for keeping managers who are humane and getting rid of the poison ones.

I have been working at IDEXX Laboratories full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great company culture, everyone treats each other with respect. Facilities are top of the line with a free health care center within Idexx; this includes a state of the art gym, and access to in-house medical staff. and everyone is working towards a noble cause- to save animals.

    Cons

Difficult to move up in the company if you started from the ground floor. There is a disconnect between hourly and salary personnel; it is hard to jump over the chasm.

    Advice to Management

Implement a better program to move people up through the system.

    Pros

Many wonderful people throughout company in different depts, divisions.

    Cons

Too big, big-league corporate player now, not employee friendly from corporate level, very money hungry for shareholders and lack of dealing with lab-level quality issues involving couriers and chronically over-stressed, overworked and under-staffed processing depts, where most errors occur.

    Advice to Management

Take specimen processing and courier quality issues seriously.

    Pros

Good work environment, very good call center experience. Everyone is very nice and people are very dedicated to helping you succeed.

    Cons

When the phones get busy it can be very discouraging. Numbers constantly change within the call center so it's hard to determine what kind of call volume you'll be having.

    Pros

Friendly environment (for the most part). Decent health benefits. Management seems lost the majority of the time. No direction, lack of leadership.

    Cons

Internal company morale was very bad due to upper management neglect. There is no such thing as promotion from within-this company’s idea of promotion from within is for employee that are interested in any openings to go through the same hiring process as a new candidate (update your resume and submit it to HR). Guess they don't know their own employees, which is really sad. Lots of nepotism within the hiring managers.

The company is always looking for new talent as they don't want to spend any $$$ to keep their Senior techs. Who will do the job in a more timely manner and move on to the next job. Instead, They rather hire drop outs or high school kids at 15hr and feed them the usual line.. “Your going to see the world”

The Europe and Latin division was put under the control of the US division by a team who didn’t speak the language nor know the culture and didn’t even maintain a good business relationship. All they wanted was to see was sales and eventually pulled out of both leaving hundreds of distributors and clients in limbo with no alternative. You can’t claim to be an International company when all you do is take customers money and from one day to the next pull out leaving no alternative. I thought morale was bad before I left but it plummeted thereafter. If the economy was the same as in 2005 or even 2007, everybody would have jumped ship.

    Advice to Management

Stop abusing of your employees even on they're last day before your going to fire them. Give them a better work life balance.
