    Pros

    Very well run, company. Talented upper management. Good work environment depending where in the building you are. Friendly people. Solid engineering and financial practices.

    Cons

    Work/life balance is given lip service but that's all. Work outside of office hours is expected in many positions. Small company so advancement opportunities are rare. Training is basically non-existent.

    Pros

    Quiet office, plenty of celebrations and free food/snacks, laid back environment. Decent pay and benefits. Flexible with schedules when exceptions arise.

    Cons

    Morale seems low, there's very little energy in the office and opinions voiced in private are almost always negative. A lot of gossiping takes place, especially among the long-timers. Advancement opportunities are non-existent, there's simply no where to go unless someone above you decides to quit. Also, suggestions for improvements are met with "we don't have time for that" or "well, this is how we've done things for a while now." There's simply no desire to improve.

    Advice to Management

    Define a solid company mission and strategy and communicate that clearly down to all levels of the company, then build out a management approach that is aligned with the strategy. It's tough coming to work every day when you have no idea how the company intends to get out of the serious rut that it's in. How does the company intend to grow when the market for the products seems to be evaporating? Management also needs to be expanded, it's simply too flat to be effective. Hire department managers who handle leading the execution efforts so that your directors can focus on big-picture and strategic alignment.

    Pros

    Active sales and a solution that is always improving. Customer feedback into the product is really a good process.

    Cons

    Better advertising and material out to the telecom space

    Keep showing everyone how much you care! It nice a great family environment for such a large company

    Great People! Everyone is welcoming. The management is amazing.

    Not always enough work for the interns. A lot of down time.

    Nice people and laid back attitude equates to little stress

    Cons

    Poor sales force and immature product has resulted in recurring layoffs due to lost contracts; Very little discipline in how they develop and implement their solutions

    Advice to Management

    Hold yourselve 1st and 2nd layer management accountable for letting down your employees (and x-employees)

    I have been working at IDI Billing full-time

    Pros

    Very smart people who know their stuff and can be very creative in solving problems. There is also a good work-life balance and flexibility. The work is challenging and there is the opportunity to contribute directly on a regular basis. The telecom industry itself is fast-paced and never dull, something is always changing, which makes the work interesting.

    Cons

    Growth has been steady, but there is a lot of competition in the market. Some of the smaller departments don't add resources often, so there is have little opportunity to be promoted.

    Pros

    Working in a small company like IDI you develop a good relationship with your co-workers, the culture is great and I haven't had a negative experience yet. It's a fun work environment where everyone is friendly towards each other but all acknowledge that there is work to be done.

    Cons

    Often times in such a small company there can be an issue of work overload for some employees. This can make it difficult to get in contact with people when needing guidance or to discuss current or future projects.

    Pros

    The company is very family focused with a great work-life balance and fun to work at as well. Overall it has a focus on software development but everyone is acknowledged as being important to the overall health of the company. There are lots of ways to get recognized both internally and externally. Management at all levels have been very open to talk through things and are willing to work to make things better. Everyone acts like one big team pushing towards the common goal.

    Cons

    Growing pains have caused some hurt feelings and like someone else mentioned - the very low turnover rate makes it hard to advance quickly.

    Pros

    Working at IDI feels very much like being part of a family. Employees are friendly and there is a very real sense of camaraderie. This is an engineering-driven organization, with significant marketing input to guide development initiatives. Benefits are excellent and pay is on par with similarly-sized organizations in the Rochester area. Management is very transparent about corporate finances despite being a privately held organization.

    Cons

    Because this is a relatively small organization with high employee satisfaction, churn is minimal (with the exception of the customer support department), so opportunities for advancement are very limited. Management style and quality varies throughout the company. Some managers are excellent, others micromanage or chase process improvements at the expense of productivity.
