I have been working at IDT full-time for more than 6 years

    Pros

There's a lot of new technologies to learn. From all things AWS to "newer" languages like Go. Learn what you can, and then find a better opportunity elsewhere.

    Cons

I cannot stress this enough. Be very wary of any opportunity for growth in this company if you are in Technology. Due to continued declining revenues from its Telecom business, the company has made a strategic decision to shift its software development overseas. This process has been happening for well over a year. We have seen our scrum teams grow in sizes from 7-8 members to well over 15 people, with half of them...

    Advice to Management

Stop the shady practice of using performance reviews as a basis for laying people off just so you don't have to offer severance. Recognize the fact that in the pursuit of reducing expenses, you are in danger of losing your most valuable resources (employees). Be very aware of where that tipping point is. I hope you realize how critically low morale is within your company.

    I worked at IDT full-time

    Pros

Innovating new products, leaders in their space (for example cardless phone cards), very smart tech teams.

    Cons

Old school hierarchical management - with some penetration of agile (scrum), jira type tools etc. and some penetration of CI - but not across all teams. Internecine territories well staked out. Upper management (not mid level) has struggled with corporate direction as margins shrink in traditional telecom.

    Advice to Management

Flatten the hierarchy. More corporate transparency. Allow cross-team fertilization and migrations to keep developers fresh.

    I worked at IDT

    Pros

The people, the actual workers, are some of the best people around. They are hard-working, dedicated, and make the work environment fun and entertaining. The company used to recognize hard work and dedication with salary increases and bonuses.

    Cons

The company cares nothing about dedication and hard work anymore. They always look to nickel & dime their employees by applying salary cuts and firing those with the highest salaries, regardless of their dedication, work and past contributions. They will fire many valuable and hard-working employees just so upper management can continue to receive generous salaries and bonuses....

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to your actual workers. Reward the loyal and talented employees that are willing to assist the company and go above and beyond the call of duty. Focus less on providing generous bonuses to management.

I worked at IDT full-time for more than 2 years

    Pros

If you are in sales you have freedom.

    Cons

depending on the regional sales manager you runt he risk of being micromanaged. the market is saturated and yet they still hire new retail account managers to go after the gristle of the market. they make you do inventory needlessly every Monday which is time consuming. they still have a "sell phone cards" mentality. the company tried to implement bill pay with but it wasn't plug and play. there were too many bugs. they...

I have been working at IDT

    Pros

Flexible schedule, able to work from home

    Cons

Very political, it's all about who you know or are related to. Compensation not reflective of position or responsibilities performed but based on who you 'schmooze' with. No transparency. No rewards or recognition for hard work or for going the extra mile. Lack of communication from upper management or between departments. Frequent 'restructuring' makes work challenging....
