I worked at IDW Publishing as an intern (Less than a year)

I worked at IDW Publishing full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company itself is pretty cool and what they do is rad (yes, rad). I'm not even into comic books but found myself reading them. It was neat to see all the creativity floating around. Beautiful location and Starbucks machine in the snack room. Decent pay and benefits. Most people were friendly.

    Cons

Do not promise growth within the company and then not deliver. During the interview process I made it clear how important growth is to me and they reassured me that the opportunity would be there. I accepted the job offer and quickly realized it was a lie. I was told my manager didn't want anyone else to see my full potential because he wanted to keep me in my current position, assisting him.

    Advice to Management

Do not allow people in senior or executive positions to abuse what power they have.

I worked at IDW Publishing (More than 3 years)

    Pros

A lot of latitude given for cover art subject, reasonable deadlines, and much better pay than interior art.

    Cons

Sometimes minimal or no reference or assets given for assignments that require adherence to a licensed style, meaning a hunt for reference.

    Advice to Management

    Get more assets from licensors.
