I worked at IEH Laboratories & Consulting Group full-time for more than a year

      Pros

I know that there were problems with management before I was hired, but I really enjoyed the A-shift supervisor. As long as you worked to the best of your abilities, she added to the fun atmosphere of the team. I never felt like she asked more of me than I was able to do.

      Cons

Once you learn all of the responsibilities of the lab, it can get monotonous at times, especially for the slower days, where we spent most of the day cleaning the lab.

I worked at IEH Laboratories & Consulting Group full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Great coworkers, and a good chance to learn lab techniques.

      Cons

Rather low pay, and very little serious room to advance.

      Advice to Management

Pay workers more. They deserve it. I think the upper management is actually quite responsible and present in the daily work compared to many other companies, but there is a surprising lack of interest in the well being of the workers who make up the majority of the company. The job frankly does not pay well enough considering the requirements and the work involved, especially for a company that relies so heavily on independent...

I worked at IEH Laboratories & Consulting Group full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Honestly, I cannot think of any,,,, if you manage and a miracle happens that you survive and stay for 2 years, you definitely become a supervisor because everyone leaves after a few weeks or a few months

      Cons

Health insurance is available after 60 days of employment You make more money if you work in Jack in the Box You will be washing all the trays more than 40% of the time, the other 60% you are packing stuff and taping them for shipment, I do not think that you need a 4 year degree for it. If you are a minority, be ready to be mocked all the time Everybody hates their job, toxic environment, bad structure. Not even...

I have been working at IEH Laboratories & Consulting Group full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Overtime was good. Got to smell nice vegetables and fruits that came from farm, were washed, PCR tested, then sent to restaurants for consumption.

      Cons

The plant staff who washed the fuits and veggies, pressured the "independent" lab staff to release the product (often a semi full of materials) often before the product was tested. If additional testing needed to be done the employee was pressured to complete even if it meant working a 16 hour day, which occurred often. So much so that we bought a couch for outside the lab to sleep on. On the days we had off we were...

      Former Employee - Anonymous Employee

I worked at IEH Laboratories & Consulting Group full-time

      Pros

Liked working a couple of days and then being off and so forth. Enjoyed working with most employees.

      Cons

Long shifts and short staffed. Did not like the inconsistency of work loads. Management needs to work together.

      Advice to Management

Management needs to work together in coming up with a better plan with being short staffed...especially for night shifts.

I worked at IEH Laboratories & Consulting Group full-time for more than a year

      Pros

Will hire new graduates, offers health benefits even if they aren't amazing, opportunity for overtime sometimes, get experience in a laboratory setting learning new SOPs, cooperate is offsite and doesn't breathe down your neck too much depending on your location, my lab also had very flexible scheduling, you have a job

      Cons

Pay is way too low if they expect people to have a 4 year degree, I was forced, against my will, to travel to other labs because my manager wouldn't stand up for me, you will work holidays and weekends, clients can be awful to deal with, my last manager stopped coming in until well after 1pm everyday, would only stay a few hours despite increased sample volume and operations was just cool with that I guess. No room for...

      Advice to Management

Hire more competent managers for your labs and check in frequently to make sure they are doing their jobs. My manager did not do anything except invoicing once a week and (maybe?) attending the conference call to pretend like he knew what was going on, pay more to retain the capable people that work for you already instead of being okay with high turnover.

I worked at IEH Laboratories & Consulting Group full-time for more than a year

      Pros

      - Access to plenty of introductory lab experience. - If you do well, can obtain more specialized and useful lab techniques. - Coworkers are nice and can make the experience fun. - Supervisors/managers/researchers willing to teach and help when necessary. - A number of dedicated, caring scientists at the lab.

      Cons

      - The amount of overtime can be overwhelming. - Pay is on the lower end to comparable positions. - No room for moving up (unless deemed 'necessary' by higher ups). - Raises are good at first, but seem to plateau. - Most equipment is well-used and old, i.e. autoclaves leak/break, or gel electrophoresis boxes and imaging machines constantly breaking. - Lab can be dirty/unappealing, especially with the large garbage...

      Advice to Management

      - Listen to your employees for their concerns or recommendations - it helps them feel like they have some say in what is going on. - Change the schedule so less overtime is required, while still being able to get work done. Asking the employees what they would like is a good start. - Either hire additional, qualified employees to help with the workload, or be willing to accept fewer samples. Business means income, but...
