I have been working at IGS Energy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Monday through Friday ish, but the office manager tries to make anyone work if you're below 20 sales even though the minimum is 12 sales.

    Cons

When hired I was told that this wasn't a normal sales job nor door to door sales. I was told customers knew I was coming due to appointments or mailers, but they do not know anything about you coming. For training they tell you to actively mislead people into getting IGS gas and electricity. "Don't mention the rate or talk about saving them money". Then if the person says they...

    Advice to Management

Cut the bully sales tactics. No means no. You don't have to talk down or lie to people to get a sale.

I worked at IGS Energy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Company pays well and has great benefits with lots of paid time off. Company takes employees out to events and does nice things for them. If you can do the job, they treat you very well. Product is straight forward without some of the unscrupulous hidden contract terms that many energy companies practice.

    Cons

Job is door to door sales and the product you sell is long term gas contracts and home warranties on utilities/applances. Most customers you knock won't even hear you out because the industry is full of really bad operators that leave a sour taste in people's mouths. IGS contracts are not a scam but tend to be priced on the high side to accommodate the price fixing for the...

I worked at IGS Energy full-time

    Pros

The negatives far out way the very few (if any) positives.

    Cons

Door to door sales. Income is dependent on many factors beyond one's control. High turnover rate and extremely low length of service among employees demonstrating this is not a job for most. Company recently cut compensation by 20% while raising sales quota by 20% as well. Lot of demands outside of work (e.g. meetings) that add to your work week. Expected to work weekends to...

    Advice to Management

Increase compensation and structure it as 100% commission. Allow employees to set their own hours and control their time. This job can be done in a few hours a day from 5:00 until 8:00 p.m.

I have been working at IGS Energy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I can't say enough good things about working here. At first I was hesitant because you're selling door to door but from the phone screen to my 2nd interview I was almost begging them to hire me. The training is phenomenal and they go at your pace. You're joining a team who makes you feel like family the moment you meet them. Everyone is so empowering, loving and genuine. The pay is great, with a base pay plus commission....

    Cons

Downside is that it's door to door sales but to be honest it's not bad. We sell with integrity and I feel no pressure to make a sale. You make your customers aware that they have a choice in what they pay and if you can provide them with more value, they will sign up. If they are already in a good situation, I let them know they should stay put for now and I'll check on them...

I have been working at IGS Energy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

People you work with are great! Every employee gets equal beat down for sales. Allow you to work for charitable organizations and help out in the community.

    Cons

Door to door sales - Work Mon. thru Fri. but if you don't meet sales quota you have to work Saturdays. Be careful, if you don't meet sales, verbal warning 1st, written 2nd and 3rd written for termination. Plan on working 6 days a week. 2 days out of the week are meetings so your day will be extra long - 9 am to 8pm. Gift card bonus - so you have to pay taxes on them by the...

    Advice to Management

Employees understand that if we don't sell, management doesn't make the money. Pyramid type of thing. Would be nice not to get so many messages on the work I-pad beating you down to "keep pushing" and "sell strong" as you are working. Employees need to make the money, so they don't have to be reminded when they are having a hard time closing. If you sell good, the quota will change for you so you have to work even harder!...

I worked at IGS Energy full-time

    Pros

Great benefit and base pay. Also, some pretty good people on the team.

    Cons

What I didn't know until I started was that this was a door to door sales job. I was mislead when I was hired and it wasn't until I was in training that this was brought up. It is basically knocking on someone's door and trying to persuade them to pay more because we offer green energy Ice cold leads. . Usually the competitors rates are much better than IGS's and so are the utility...

    I worked at IGS Energy

    Pros

    I can't think of any.

    Cons

Just about everything. This a door to door sales job. You will be encouraged to solicit without a permit, because they are expensive. The energy rates you offer customers are higher than utility and competition. The gas price IGS offers is almost double what the utilities offer. Only way to sell is to lie to customers.

    Advice to Management

    Provide reps with competitive rates.

I worked at IGS Energy full-time for more than a year

    Pros

To be honest not many other than the people I worked with and the volunteer opportunities.

    Cons

The company prides itself on providing customer choice and educating the customer. However, branch managers and team leaders create an environment that pressures the HEC to close the sale even if it is not beneficial to the customer. Further, the company continues to change its bonus structure and it seems to change on a regular basis. This prevents the HEC from knowing whether or not they will have a bonus. When I left...

I have been working at IGS Energy full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They pay you 20 cents per mile, except you might be traveling 70+ miles a day... Not really a pro

    Cons

At first they make you believe this job is no ordinary door to door sales, and then for orientation they take you down to Dublin, OH and put you up in a really nice hotel for one night. The term for this is "HoneyPotting", they show you all the amazing things they can offer, then once you get sent to your branch reality sets in.... Im a door to door...
