I worked at IGT full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

You have very hard working, Dedicated employees who were proud to be shareholders. Most staff have a can-do attitude despite the passive aggressive beatdowns

    Cons

Senior management is out of touch with he reality of what is taking place on a day to day basis. HR doesn't investigate complaints and turns a blind eye

    Advice to Management

You have vipers in your senior management team that are disingenuous to middle mgmt. The sneaky/hostile passive aggressive behavior displayed by newly appointed VPs caused many long-time employees to seek employment elsewhere. 5 years ago IGT was known as BIG BLUE - you are in the middle of a mediocre pack

I worked at IGT full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I have nothing positive to say.

    Cons

The absolute worst company I have ever worked for. Employees are treated like second class citizens. No room for advancement. Management is incompetent and the company looks like it's headed for the dumpster. If you are looking for a quality career with a great company than don't even waste your time filling out the application.

    Pros

They have a gym and cafeteria?
Campus is nice from the outside
    Dress code is lax
Technical abilities not necessary. As long as you can look 'busy'

    Cons

    Disorganized management
Frequent layoffs (up to 3x a year)
    Bad corporate culture
    Bad job climate
Breeds paranoia and conflict amongst workers
Poor salaries with limited opportunities to move up

I have been working at IGT full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

A 5 hour workday. There is usually someone else that does the actual work. Directors are seldom around so freedom for long lunches reducing the workday to 3 hours.

    Cons

The bonus amount gets considerably smaller each year. Stock grants are gone for managers. Most managers can't do their jobs while a large minority do not even know their product line. It is very hard to be motivated for even the simplest tasks.

    Advice to Management

Keep track of your direct reports, no one else will. Focus on the product, not the process. Bring benefits back before all the talent is gone.

    Pros

    Decent benefits and time off

    Cons

Top heavy management; micro management has reached new levels.

    Advice to Management

Let your people run the business and stop analyzing to the "nth" degree.

I worked at IGT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This poor company was pillaged by the ex CEO, and is now shedding the best and brightest from every department.

    Cons

From 2013 to today, this company has taken only the most short-sighted steps to keep the company from completely sinking. Need to show a profit? Don't stop flying the company jet to ski vacations, lay off 15% of the work force and call those savings "profit". The result is a company so full of holes and short of talent that it's a shadow the company it once was.

    Advice to Management

    Get your resume brushed off.

    Pros

The work life balance is probably without compare

    Cons

The lack of any succession planning makes career progression either non-existent or difficult

I have been working at IGT full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Everyone is nice: management, co-workers, and everyone else. Tasks and expectations are clearly assigned. Lots of resources to use and develop yourself. Very generous vacation, holiday, and sick time.

    Cons

Gambling industry may or may not be as successful as they are or in the past. Lots of bureaucracy as to be expected from an international company. You feel more like a cog in a machine rather than a specialized contributor when upper management focuses on yearly goals and pays less attention to lower employees. Current manager wants to oversee everyone's contribution so the attention is stretched thin.

    Advice to Management

Immediate management: either step back and focus on your own tasks and let us manage ourselves more, or get another person to help you with your responsibilities.

Overall Management: Let us know about other department's events. We feel isolated even though we work in close proximity to other studios. Plus I hear a lot of praise for marketing and other more public facing departments for hitting sales and other goals, but not so much for internal departments such as product development and testing. We want to feel appreciated too.

I have been working at IGT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They have a reasonable benefits package.
Salaries were somewhat competitive with the market.
Some limited chances to work remotely.
    Engineering staff is generally good.
A place to hide and collect a paycheck for a while.

    Cons

Nepotism and cronyism in the upper management. Very 1950's attitudes.
Leadership lacks direction, ability to lead or innovate.
Company culture is very poor or perhaps "poisonous", so employees and middle management are ignored, not allowed to contribute to helping the company succeed (just given marching orders).
Leaders appear to make business decisions based on emotional and personal (non business related) reasons.
Upper management continues to get bonuses even as profits decline fast.

I have been working at IGT full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Benefits, 401k, Paid Time, Sick Time, Holidays, Float Days
Work Environment is Open, Clean, Calm
    Location is Great
    On Site Cafe and Gym

    Cons

The budget is usually low for group activities.

Recent years have brought worse health insurance options, less time off, lower 401k match %, and other benefits once had being cut away. The morale has suffered.

    Advice to Management

Put more efforts toward having happy employees and less trying to keep the quarterly books looking sharp for the investors. Reinstate the Holiday Season Bonuses/Perks.
