I worked at IGT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

This poor company was pillaged by the ex CEO, and is now shedding the best and brightest from every department.

    Cons

From 2013 to today, this company has taken only the most short-sighted steps to keep the company from completely sinking. Need to show a profit? Don't stop flying the company jet to ski vacations, lay off 15% of the work force and call those savings "profit". The result is a company so full of holes and short of talent that it's a shadow the company it once was.

    Advice to Management

    Get your resume brushed off.

I worked at IGT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Flexible work schedules and time off

    Cons

Had great hopes for new with IGT with GTech as the new owners, but the new IGT is pretty much the same as the old IGT.

    Advice to Management

Build EGMs that smaller casinos and slot routes can afford to buy. Instead of constantly telling customers what product IGT will build and sell, try building EGMs that customers want and can afford. Try growing IGT's gaming market, instead of always playing 2nd fiddle to Ballys.

I worked at IGT full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

None that I can think of.

    Cons

The company is returning to the Patti days. If you want to find out what it's like to be laid off then IGT is the company for you. If you are a sycophant to management, you will never be laid off. You are hard working and what to help grow the company, you will be the 1st person to be laid off.

    Advice to Management

Try lay'ing off the worthless middle management for a change instead of the employees the work hard everyday to help grow the company.
The CTO has stated she does not want innovation at IGT, but innovation is what grows companies. Ask Apple what happens to companies that stop innovating.
Bring back innovation to the company!

    Pros

The job is easy since I never saw a Manager or Supervisor visit my shift at night

    Cons

NY manager and Supervisor really try to scare you through phone calls on how they can fire you, make you do anything and demean your character. They are pure evil

    Advice to Management

Bring in fresh management who are PROFESSIONAL

I worked at IGT full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    A few great coworkers
    Benefits industry standard
    Unsupervised

    Cons

Pay scale is 20 years behind, management cuts corners even at the expense of productivity and safety, management is completely disengaged, if you desire work life balance you must force it, management slow to praise- quick to scold, management makes job more difficult than it needs to be.

    Advice to Management

    Leadership- get some.

I have been working at IGT full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Competitive compensation, international jobs/ experiences, coworkers for the most part very smart . For most part, provide tools needed to do job

    Cons

    Aggressive culture
Little embrace of diversity- put initiate in place, but words not actions.
80s mentality towards management. Hierarchal approach to management, inhibits candor and ability to take risks.
Little collaboration, people instead constantly competing against each other
    People do not feel valued

    Advice to Management

Need diversity within HR, and empower them to hold all leadership accountable in aligning to corporate mission. Need to demonstrate through actions that your people are the most valued resource, not interchangeable pieces that can be easily replaced.

I have been working at IGT full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They have a reasonable benefits package.
Salaries were somewhat competitive with the market.
Some limited chances to work remotely.
    Engineering staff is generally good.
A place to hide and collect a paycheck for a while.

    Cons

Nepotism and cronyism in the upper management. Very 1950's attitudes.
Leadership lacks direction, ability to lead or innovate.
Company culture is very poor or perhaps "poisonous", so employees and middle management are ignored, not allowed to contribute to helping the company succeed (just given marching orders).
Leaders appear to make business decisions based on emotional and personal (non business related) reasons.
Upper management continues to get bonuses even as profits decline fast.

    Pros

Outside all day, good benefits, company car

    Cons

The office environment. The treatment of the employees by the full time office.

    Advice to Management

Management needs to involve the unions next time they have a contract with the state.

I worked at IGT full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Easy access off main freeway (215). Pleasant campus, close to shopping and eating.

    Cons

CHURN & BURN! If you're a PM or gaming SME avoid like the plague! Like many in the Vegas gaming industry, IGT has no clue how to run projects (best practice, Agile/PMI). They burn out their PM's by loading them up and micromanaging their methodology (a multi-page spreadhseet checklist called a Phase-Gate review). They expect 75%-125% travel (125% includes weekend time.)

    Advice to Management

Stop treating your employees like resources to be used up. Stop your focus on the bottom line ($$) and realize that your employees are human beings and that cultivating loyalty for the future might have merits.
