I worked at IGT as a contractor

    Pros

There are some great executives in place that are sharp and get the big picture.

    Cons

Too many layers of management with no clear business owners at times. Decisions cannot be made because not one person is the final decision maker. Products can be spread too thin. Shared development resources also slow things down.

    Advice to Management

Assign business leaders to own the product.
    No shared development resources.

I have been working at IGT full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Sheer talent in the company is vast. The people are the greatest asset they have - some of them are wonderful to work with.

    Cons

IGT Senior execs are not a diverse group - if you're not Italian then you're not in the "club" which can dampen your career aspirations. Cost cutting driven rather then opportunity/revenue driven ethos - hard to retain talent.

    Advice to Management

Re-appraise the culture and the organization that as bred it. Politics are killing your business slowly and painfully.

    Pros

    They pay you on time.

    Cons

No more holiday pay, PTO, sick leave, or relaxed atmosphere. When you are an intern, they expect you to work all the time and do the work of a full time employee with 1/3rd the pay.

    Advice to Management

Start treating interns like people and more people will stay.

    Pros

    Good work life balance.

    Benefits are still pretty good.

    Generally stable company.

If you just want a paycheck and want to put in your time it is a good place.

    Cons

    Capping of promotions and salaries.

    Declining benefits.

Slow moving, out dated software development processes.

Resistance to change - Things are done because "that's how its always been done" with no supporting reason.
