I worked at IHS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    The office has nice views

    Cons

Top management constantly telling employees how much they care, and then turns around and has massive layoffs

    Advice to Management

Read some of these reviews on Glass Door

    Pros

For several years the company was great.I had opportunities to grow in my career and learn new skills from a variety of employee training opportunities.

    Cons

No Security. My last year of employment I had received recognition multiple times for excellent customer service skills. I received 2 performance based bonuses and was then laid off due to upper managements inability to maintain the contract I worked on.

    Advice to Management

Follow your own plan and listen to the successful front line client facing colleagues with proven success on the front line.

I worked at IHS (Less than a year)

    Pros

Work life balance, flexible schedule that allows you to work from home, and compensation is fair.

    Cons

VERY political company, job security is always an issue, you will spend more time talking about work than actually doing work with hundreds of planning meetings, management is disconnected from reality.

    Advice to Management

Stop cutting people that actually execute work and maybe consider cutting more middle management that literally does NOTHING. Most of IHS management during my time there spent entire days on calls that never lead to any sort of resolve. Stop lieing to employees and telling us how much you care about us, you don't and thats ok. We are adults we can handle the news. As a young employee IHS showed me pretty much everything that is wrong with non cutting edge corporations. ZERO room for innovation, ZERO collaboration, Backstabbing brown nosing middle management, and an inability to recognize competent folks to run departments. Choose the smartest employees who get the job done, not the ones that spend half the day sitting in your office chatting with you in hopes that face time will get them promoted.

    I worked at IHS full-time

    Pros

People can be great, most of the good ones are leaving

    Cons

Top heavy with management that idealizes themselves. They manage up only, those below management level are left to fend for themselves. Sales commission is fractional - can be less than 1% and quotas are unattainable. Beware of the grand story that is told, peek under the covers as you don't have to dig too far to find that there is no foundation.

    Advice to Management

You are running the company into the ground. Entitlement is not a perspective that will take you very far.

    I worked at IHS full-time

    Pros

none since IHS is selling to MarkIt

    Cons

Many of the IHS reviews are LIES and put here by HR.

    Advice to Management

Many of the reviews that are being givin here are being done by IHS HR. They know the impact that GlassDoor has. As it is, IHS is selling out to Markit. Their Corporate HQ is up for sale and many of the employees know that they will not have a job there.
Yet, good reviews continue to roll out.
    Total LIES.

I have been working at IHS (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    work/life balance, benefits. nothing else.

    Cons

Middle Managers (sr mgr level to Sr Director level) is the worst I have ever worked with in my 30 year IT career. They do not pay for employee training. They do not care about employees, only money. Very political. People are promoted based on who they know. Avoid working for this company, you won't be happy here.

    Advice to Management

Clean out middle management, focus more on employee retention, training.

I worked at IHS full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Some of the people were nice. Ample meeting spaces available in offices. International presence in market and large conferences.

    Cons

Horrible hr, unprofessional known office politics, no general respect for hard work, just expected to do more than job description with no extra benefit, raise or promotion.

    Advice to Management

Listen and watch employees at individual level.
