    Approves of CEO

I worked at IHS (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Strong CEO in Jerre Stead; strong company vision; global company. Decent benefits.

    Cons

Security in IT should be a priority; an information company that doesn't protect its information is in trouble; invest in upgrades to legacy IT systems; some leadership dysfunction in HR; no real development opportunities to help employees advance their career.

    Advice to Management

Protect your information - it is your company's business. Implement a real career development program. Offer job exchanges in other countries; encourage individual contributors to travel globally and experience the many cultures within the company.

I worked at IHS full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Diverse information portfolio across a variety of key sectors including automotive, chemicals, energy, aerospace and defense. A history of strong brand acquisitions.

    Cons

Difficulties with acquisition integration and historically challenged in defining market role for acquired brands. Hyper focused on maintaining subs business base, limited innovation in product development and missed opportunity for cross fertilization due to difficulties with acquisition integration.

    Advice to Management

Develop a strategy focused on developing innovative products and services that cross over the brands and sectors - and the deep subject matter expertise that resides in both.
