I have been working at IKEA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefits (Paid time off, paid sick time, 401K, opportunity for travel), fast paced and rewarding, development focused on those interested and willing to do the work.

    Cons

Interdepartment communication, keeping up with other retailers, a high volume retail environment, balancing staffing and budget needs for best customer experience

    Advice to Management

Invest more in coworkers and in more coworkers to reduce turnover and improve customer experience

I worked at IKEA (More than 10 years)

    Pros

5 weeks vacation, 401k, unattainable bonus, management doesn't work nights, weekends holidays... so you definitely will be

    Cons

Good luck taking vacation when you want, raises are a joke 15 to cent 20 raises. Promotions are not based on preformance by on social standing

I have been working at IKEA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The Team leads and managers are very nice amd understanding about most things.

    Cons

The higher the postion they are the lazier they seem ro be. They walk around countless hours not lifting a finger to help despite the work load some days. They tell people what to do while standing in a circle and talkling eachothers ears off while the rest of us work. I feel like a pawn peice in a chess game getting told "do this and do that FOR ME" Thier lack of leadership is at an all time low. What i look for in a real true leader is that "you work because you want to not because you have to" -Leon Johnson

    Advice to Management

Leaders don't step up in the time of need but to proove that they belong in that position dayin and day out regaurdless of the work load. They expect us to work our tails off each and ever day I EXPECT THE SAME!

    Pros

-All staff is seen as equal and everyone shares responsibilities
    -Great people to work with

    Cons

-The sourcing of IKEA products is very messed up and the store is constantly out of products. This is very frustrating because the customer gets upset frequently.
-The computer systems and programs they use are extremely outdated and very inefficient

I have been working at IKEA part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The company really takes care of its employees. Break rooms are awesome, including a quiet room with books that people can take or leave as they wish and a room with games and a jukebox. On the busiest days, every employee got free food. Requesting time off was easy. For the most part, everybody I worked with was great.

    Cons

I would have liked being able to see my coworkers on a more consistent basis, but the nature of the job meant that people always had different schedules.

    Pros

Great company...good culture, wonderful people, environmentally aware.

    Cons

Lots of turnover, clueless people making decisions for the store level in the service office, often not a lot of consistency on the way things are handled with coworkers...often who you know or are friends with changes the outcome of major decisions.

I have been working at IKEA full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits - Health, PTO, Holiday Gift, $3 meal deal, Holiday Party, Team Outings
Unique Company Culture - not your usual corporate structure/environment
Global Market Leader - biggest home furnisher in the world and getting bigger
Opportunities for Development - lots of departments to work in depending on your interest

    Cons

Not enough locations in the US - limits moving around
Humble company so doesn't always do a good job of promoting how good it is to work here.
Technology is OK but not cutting edge

    Advice to Management

Spend some money on promoting how good it is to work here, people won't know unless you tell them.
