I worked at IKEA part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Ikea Has some of the best retail training I have ever seen. The Lunch that is served in the staff room isn't just meat balls and lingonberry sauce, it's actually good food. Upper management really cares about you and makes and effort to get to know you.

    Cons

Sometimes it took too long for coworkers to be disciplined or let go. I'm all for giving second chances but when an employee's behavior is affecting other's work it becomes a real problem

    Advice to Management

Be more aware of when your shop keepers take vacation and leave a laundry list of nonsense for their employees to do while they're away. For example, don't let them leave for two weeks during catalogue drop of when corporate is in town for the store review.

Its a great company with great benefits, low pay.

    Cons

Unfortunately one has to Kiss up to the managers and store manager to get a higher position

I worked at IKEA full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people are nice to work with, benefits and positive atmosphere. Vacation pay is also amazing and they go by the book.

    Cons

The managers are very stuck up and ignore their employees. They are getting strict on time and they low ball your raises. I worked hard there for a long time and I always finished my work early. Plus I was great to the customers and it was all ignored and I didn't get my sales Co worker level 2 raise which I worked at for 7 months after obtaining the sofas department. They also favor the teachers pet. A lot of favortism at ikea.

    Advice to Management

Go to the floor and be there for your employees. Do not neglect them and do not give them an evaluation for false accusations..

I have been working at IKEA part-time

    Pros

There are many ways you can move up in the company. You don't have feel stuck in a certain area. There are also many ways to learn more about your current or a future position and this additional education is greatly encouraged. The pay is above average for retail and as long as your performance doesn't drop, you can look forward to a raise every year. Benefits are among the best offered.

    Cons

Even though you take all the training classes, sometimes your movement forward hinges on who you know. Another frustrating thing is that if you're not the kind of person to find information on your own, you will be kept in the dark.

    Pros

People at IKEA are generally pretty friendly. Great benefits. Lots of hot girls walking through the store.

    Cons

    Work just about every weekend.

    Advice to Management

Don't act so high and mighty bc you're a 'manager'. What you do is simple and ANYONE can do it. So, don't think you're special and stop letting your title get to your head.

I have been working at IKEA full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great company to work for, lots of benefits, bonus is earned by the whole store and shared by the whole store (or not, if not achieved). They pay the living wage, not just minimum.
Subsidised meals, Christmas present, work pension, loads more...

    Cons

It's hard work! You really do earn your money there, and it's huge, takes a while to figure out who's who and where everything is.
