I have been working at IKEA part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule (good job for students)
Good benefits (medical, dental, PTO, 401k, bonuses, etc)

    Cons

Management and HR are not empathetic. They don't hire enough people and we are constantly understaffed. GM seems to be all about money and not about employee happiness/retention.

    Advice to Management

Business is not all about money. Don't forget that keeping your employees happy will lead to better sales and better retention. Quit cutting hours because employees are being overworked.

I have been working at IKEA full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits. IKEA Cares about environment and Humanitarian issues.

    Cons

IKEA US is going through a reorganization. All current employees have re-applied for a nebulous position at IKEA to be offered in FY18

    Advice to Management

Value your loyal employees by compensating those coworkers that have produced significant growth in the US and honor the coworkers have given back to the company with hard work and dedication making IKEA US a market leader in home furnishing. Loyal employees that would like to stay and grow with the company should be given clear direction with regard to the future of their career with IKEA anything less is shameful and cause for unnecessary anxiety non supportive of the work-family-life balance.

    Pros

Decent starting pay, good benefits for employees, flexible with schedules, company is focused and dedicated to training new employees about IKEA culture.

    Cons

Coworkers are expendable, management can tend to delegate tasks, not customer friendly, store is understaffed.

    Advice to Management

Stop delegating tasks and do them yourself. Focus on coworkers first, then customers second. Have your coworker's back when dealing with customers.
