I worked at IKEA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Clean work environment. Employee discount.

    Cons

Minimum wage. Extremely high turnover rate. Empty promises. Management by spreadsheet.

    Advice to Management

Schedule a few more people per shift - minimum wage + working with a skeleton crew spreads your work force too thin and ruins morale.

I have been working at IKEA part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The people who work at Ikea are generally nice and positive. The pay is better than most retailers. The benefits for full timers are excellent.

    Cons

Physically challenging. Even young adults complain of aches and pains and exhaustion. Weekends and summers are super stressful due to the crowds of customers and fast pace.

I have been working at IKEA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

IKEA is the best company I've ever worked for. They have loads of opportunity for advancement, ability to travel, and constantly have events for their co-workers to participate in. The pay is above average for the industry, and they offer full medical benefits, 401K, 2+ weeks paid vacation, sick time, and more.

    Cons

O4G. Reorganization stinks. It's completely necessary, but it's a slow painful process.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

I have been working at IKEA part-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Flexible schedule (good job for students)
Good benefits (medical, dental, PTO, 401k, bonuses, etc)

    Cons

Management and HR are not empathetic. They don't hire enough people and we are constantly understaffed. GM seems to be all about money and not about employee happiness/retention.

    Advice to Management

Business is not all about money. Don't forget that keeping your employees happy will lead to better sales and better retention. Quit cutting hours because employees are being overworked.
