I worked at IKEA part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Decent benefits for part-time employees, employee discount, flexible schedule (Somewhat), and PTO for part-time employees as well.

    Cons

Well, IKEA needs to hire more staff and put more resources into the food department (Bistro). That way, customers and employees will be happier.

I worked at IKEA part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Lots of great coworkers. Benefits available for part-time coworkers (21-34 hours/week).

    Cons

Compensation issues - pay methodology is not transparent and causes low morale. Company ideals of inclusiveness and zero tolerance for inappropriate behavior, (e.g., racism, harassment, intolerance) are not effectively enforced. Schedules are a nightmare.

    Advice to Management

If you want feedback, be prepared to hear things you do not like. Don't shoot the messenger.

I have been working at IKEA part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Provides great benefits even for part-time employees (Dental, Vision, PTO and 401k)

    Cons

Sometimes they can seem so completely unorganized. Their HR Recruiters are horrible.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees recommendations and stand behind them!

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at IKEA full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Accrue lots of vacation time for full time and even if part time you get Paid time off.

    Cons

Lots of people in management have worked there for 5+ years and have lost touch with bringing good morale to everyone under them. The ones who do usually leave and get promoted to another store. Ex: our store manager and some leaders who actually did work and showed great leadership not just tell people what to do and what they do wrong.

    Advice to Management

Be more involved in helping hourly employees reach their development goals not just your own current management team. Very little room for growth since management is not involved and engaged in the success of coworkers under them. The only thing really keeping me here is the vacation time.

Former Employee - Sales, Logistics in Cincinnati, OH

I worked at IKEA part-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

PTO 401k and pension for part-time employees Discounts on food and merch Lots of employees so it's a great place to meet new people. Also the store is huge so there are always new people coming and going.

    Cons

Always busy Irregular hours O4G = Organizing for growth. Basically IKEA combined numerous departments and cut staff and pay and tried to convince everyone it was a great change. I was working in Logistics driving fork-lifts. O4G combined our department with carts. So our department was then responsible for collecting shopping carts in the parking lot. More responsibilities you don't want for the same pay or less. Some managers were demoted and given a huge pay cut. Politics. Certain employees are favored for promotion based on their devotion to management.
