I worked at IKEA full-time for more than a year

    Pros

One thing that's for sure a big pro, are their benefits for sure!Especially medical and dental. Most co-workers there treat each other respectfully and kindly, and to some extent, like family.

    Cons

Upper management, and even some leaders there, I feel like didn't appreciate their workers enough. The pay was decent and hours a little less so (depending on the department, in this case, the logistics department). Trying to get extra hours was difficult. This is more of a job for those who are going into retirement to pass time or for college students who want to make some extra cash, this job isn't really for anyone who's trying to live off making money here, the pay just isn't enough.

I worked at IKEA part-time for more than a year

    Pros

Fun diverse group of coworkers, amazing affordable health insurance for whole family

    Cons

Favoritism, extremely poor management, little direction or guidance yet micromanaged through point system, communication was a joke on every level- upper management, management and employees- policies and procedures always shifting.

I have been working at IKEA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Discount and the employee purchase program, you can use one month salary up front and pay back in small amounts over a maximum of 18 months , retirement and health benefits are amazing

    Cons

Will do whatever they can to push more responsibility on you and not pay you more, no organization or accountability also upper management preaches these “Ikea values” but they do not walk the talk, information to complete basic tasks is riddled with red tape

"No respect for anyone - issues with IKEA store 569 and IKEA in general"

I have been working at IKEA full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Pay, good teammates, customers are fine, job is easy when you aren't being micromanaged

    Cons

First of all, the upper level managers. They talk down to people, bully their subordinates, micromanage even though they are, in my opinion, incompetant. I find them to be lazy and vindictive. Sadistic, in a word. There are rumors of corruption and nepotism but I won't make claims here. I have yet to meet a single person who doesn't loathe and avoid them like the plague. IKEA in general: the seasonals had to wait 2 months after an interview to hear if they were rehired for fulltime. No communication, a new story every day. Between corporate and upper management, the process still isn't over after 2.5 months. Unbelievable. You shouldn't jerk people around like that. It is unethical. Oh, and the seasonals had to reapply and go through a second round of interviews. Communication is bad. You have to rely on hearsy and word of mouth and things change week to week or even day to day. It drives you insane. I find it to be torturous. Unfortunately I cannot get too specific since I don't want to deal with a lawsuit. Suffice to say, the job is great, but there is so much truth to "the people make the job" that it hurts. No one wants to go to HR about management because they don't want to lose their jobs. I had high hopes for this store and I am sorry to see it fail (in my eyes). I take good leadership very seriously and that appears to be at odds with store 569. If you like open communication, healthy boundaries and autonomy, I do not recommend this store. I am sorry to be so negative but I have such a bad taste in my mouth I am virtually nauseous.

I have been working at IKEA part-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great environment, easy to form bonds with your coworkers.

    Cons

Very shaky as far as upper management decisions go. A fear that any day we could see major changes to all the things that make IKEA great and turn it into a micromanaged nightmare.

I worked at IKEA full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

The health, vision, dental and health savings are amazing. They are very affordable and have a low deductible. There is room to move up in the company if you Persue it and push for it. Great discount on everything

    Cons

There is a lot of favoritism in the store I worked at, you have to be friends with the right people or you don’t get to continue to push to move up. It seems that upper management was more interested in helping their “friends” move up. The work environment can become very negative quickly. Some employees have been there for a very long time and will not accept change without a fight which makes management’s job more difficult.
