I worked at IKON full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

While working at IKON everyone worked well as a team. It didn't matter the department as we all wanted to succeed to ensure the customers needs were met. many of the team members had been with the company 5+ years

    Cons

The division that I worked closed down, which is why I left the company. They did not offer relocation for very many people if any. It would have been nice to have been provided some options.

    I worked at IKON full-time

    Pros

Company use to be a good stepping stone to bigger and better sales positions in better industries.

    Cons

Just about everything was a con! Way to many managers and they all work off the good old boys network not easy to get promoted and once you did not much of a chance at keeping the job.

    Advice to Management

None, most of the bad ones went to Ricoh in the buyout. Those in management did not treat the sales people very well. The only time anyone would even acknowledge you unless you were way over quote. If you hit your forecast every month management could care less.

I worked at IKON full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Worked closely with Senior level Management. Pleasant work environment. Up-to-date equipment.

    Cons

I had two horrible bosses, one after the other. The first was rude, bullying and frequently made inappropriate comments. The second was a tyrant who yelled and screamed when having a conversation. Couldn't stand working for either one. Human resources did nothing to improve this situation.

    Advice to Management

Learn to have conversations without being condescending and nasty, as that makes for a hostile, tense work environment.

    Pros

Management was god and lots of training opportunities are available. Working on-site as a contractor is a great way to learn about different industries. Regular, structured feedback is a positive.

    Cons

The pay wasn't the best - felt pretty overworked a lot of the time, but it was a good way to get a foot in the door.

    Advice to Management

Management never did much in the way employee appreciation - it would be nice if they did a little more as far as events outside of work.

    Pros

Good policies for growth, learning possibilities, and time off.
Very busy, quick paced work that provides great time management learning opportunities.

    Cons

Can lose contracts quickly through competitors. Be flexible to the customers complaints but learn to handle them and address them. Must be excellent in customer service.

    Advice to Management

Pay people what they are worth and they will stay longer and create better customer retention.

    Pros

This job will make you instantly realize that you can do better. You quickly realize that it is JOB not a Career. You work for corporate America, not with them.

    Cons

Management has no idea how to draw morale. Site managers will lead you to believe that you are going to help you move forward with your career. The truth is unless you sleep with someone or know someone in upper management, you will never get promoted.

    Advice to Management

    Practice what you preach!
