I worked at IM Flash Technologies (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Good benefits.
Some great people to work with.
Good location / area to live in.

    Cons

Too many policies and plans that don't make sense are handed down by upper-level management / parent companies, and there is no room for discussion even if most of the employees disagree.
Micron in-house software is usually a pain in the neck.
Lots of people still think of IM Flash as "the old Micron building."

    Advice to Management

You should really demonstrate your own values (Integrity, Commitment, Execution, and Teamwork) in how you treat your employees. Rather than lay off a bunch of highly competent employees to save a few bucks / do what the parents ask, you should cut back on bonuses (starting with your own). The management team should be the first in shouldering the burden of bad decisions and less-than-ideal results. Laying off great employees and then turning around and trying to hire new people is a huge smack in the face.
You have a lot of smart people with a lot of good ideas, but you are so entrenched in your 'business processes' that you are constantly making your people resources go to waste.

I have been working at IM Flash Technologies full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Engineering workforce, i.e. engineers are mostly knowledgeable. Fast paced, advanced technology development.

    Cons

Good compensation to start with, but then no upward growth or even a path. No recognition of work. Unless one interacts with higher ups, no appropriate development in career. No career growth or movement within company. Within company, there is a lot of talk about "leadership", but very few, only about 10% of individuals in managerial roles actually know what leadership is.

    Advice to Management

Walk the talk of providing career growth, development opportunities. Just initiating programs and letting individuals go through the same doesn't help with morale. Identify and appreciate work done by individuals by timely reward and recognition.

    Pros

IM Flash is an innovative company that is on the forefront of non-volatile memory solutions.

    Cons

IM Flash is a joint venture between Intel and Micron. As such, it is not publicly traded and does not have its own stock. IM Flash, like all companies in the memory sector, is subject to the stresses of supply and demand inherent to technology manufacturing.

    Pros

Great benefits. Immediate team is great to work with. Always learning something new.

    Cons

You have to be in with the Idaho boys in order to get promoted within the company. The company talks big about promoting from within but every position I tried to promote to they would hire outside of the company.

    Advice to Management

Get to know your team and their talents.

    Pros

Great company with great benefits. Always learning something new and each day you are challenge to use your knowledge.

    Cons

No movement within the company. I took a lower position with the promise of moving up. The only way one move up in this company if you are from Idaho or from the Micron family. Upper management are a bunch of boys from Idaho whom are very bias.

    Advice to Management

Be willing to see the true value of each employee to help the company grow in all areas.

    Pros

Pay, benefits, and bonus alone is worth working for this company.

    Cons

no communication between leadership and the techs on the floor.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your experience Techs. They are the ones doing all the work and have the most experience.

I have been working at IM Flash Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They've recently added a well-equipped on-site gym which has been excellent.
Long-Term (LTI) bonues are great, assuming we as a company can meet our goals.

    Cons

This place is bland. I mean, no sparkle of excitement anywhere. If you're content to just come in to work and leave with a paycheck then this place is great. Don't count on loving your job or getting excited to come to work. Recent lay-offs have also crushed morale.

    Advice to Management

"Do more with less" only gets you so far. You're running your employees to the ground. You can't cut 7% of the workforce and then expect increased wafer output. Quit keeping secrets and become more transparent, nobody ever knows what's going on in upper management.

I worked at IM Flash Technologies full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fast paced environment where you will work with cutting edge technology. People are generally friendly and salaries are competitive

    Cons

The company initially put a lot of effort into building a great work environment where you were proud to come to work and see the fruits of your labors. Due to recent upper management decisions, that work environment has gone to one where people only look out for number 1. I prefer a team oriented environment, and this sadly is no longer it

    Advice to Management

Recent layoffs cut some great talent. This is unavoidable and even understandable. If I had been honest with myself, I should have seen this coming as the company was becoming middle management heavy. Many groups are just too big and meaningful projects are too few and far between.

    Pros

    Decent pay, Good work schedule.

    Cons

Managers like to play favorites. Promotions are granted not because of what you know but who you know. There is a different set of rules for those chosen few. Lower level supervisors and team leads are afraid to make any decisions or are powerless to do so.

    Advice to Management

Reward those who work hard and do their job. Empower supervisors to supervise and not to be afraid to do the right thing. Right now there is a culture of assigning blame and pointing fingers instead of learning from mistakes.
