I have been working at IMP Group full-time

    Pros

IMP does some good technical work and if you get into the right place you can learn interesting engineering analysis techniques. There is a broad range of job positions.

    Cons

There is very little structure to the company so that career progression can be difficult. The company is not well organized.

    Advice to Management

IMP could benefit from a clearer organizational structure and philosophy. Also, the company could benefit from more organized corporate knowledge. That is, information that employees need to know to do their jobs and add to corporate profits should be more accessible, better organized, and more formalized.

    Pros

not fast paced (if you can call that a pro) except right before the deadline on Friday evening.

    Cons

No Training , literally none from a technical standpoint so you start going backwards the second you step in the door.

I have been working at IMP Group full-time

    Pros

Lots of variety in the work.

    Cons

Will pay the going rate to hire a person but after that, salary increases are skimpy at best.

    Advice to Management

Need to trust managers to do their job. Give managers a budget and then have them accountable to it.

I worked at IMP Group full-time

    Pros

You get regular work hours. Lots of overtime opportunities if you want them. There are a lot of opportunities for promotions within the company.

    Cons

Salaries are low compared to national averages. There is an overall lack of productivity. There is also poor corporate culture. People do not enjoy their jobs and do not feel appreciated.

    Advice to Management

Take more time to recognize your employees and pay them what they're worth.

I have been working at IMP Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

If you're working there, you have a job. Be thankful. There are reasonable benefits and RRSP options. A number of stellar people work there.

    Cons

Under-appreciated, under-paid, employees do all of the work. Under-qualified people run the departments.
A number of racist, homophobic, sexist, transphobic, and ageist people work there.

    Advice to Management

When you talk about making change, actually follow through. Pay your employees an industry standard wage.

I have been working at IMP Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Hours ( Monday to Friday 9 to 5)
Best Aerospace Company in the East coast
OK benefits and group savings plan package

    Cons

    Terrible morale
Everyone pulls in their own direction
    No team spirit
    Finger pointing and blaming

    Advice to Management

Engage with the employees, beyond the annual survey; which is unrealistic, disconnected and seems to be just a requisite of modern workplace systems.

    Disapproves of CEO

    Pros

The benefits are average at best for Nova Scotia, The salary is above average especially for the actual work and skill & experience levels employed.
Vacation allowance average for north america and work pattern mainly day shifts with overtime

    Cons

Having been at IMP for 5 Yrs, starting as a mechanic then as a Lead hand for 4 1/2 years and temp foreman on/off for the last 2 1/2 years, I now realise that the only promotion to be gained in the company is by becoming a yes sir man to managers and most certainly not on merit or competence with in your position.
The lack of training a present at IMP aerospace is criminal within a aerospace company in the 21 Century.
The worst paid position within the company is as a production L/H due to volume of paperwork for a Dollar phr pay raise which raises two issues, firstly the correct experienced guys you really need in the positions will not take them leaving it passed to guys who really need to be learning the basics of a/c first. secondly to get promoted within the company as a rule you need to take the position as L/H which basically allows the company to pay as little as they feel for the position
Over the past two 1/2 yrs young people fresh from college have been employed some good, some not so good but imp expect them to start almost immediately as experienced member of the production workforce. (very unrealistic)

    Advice to Management

Spend more time listening to your L/H and Foreman and less time sucking up to senior management.
As a company more time and money needs to be invested in training
although a Unionised environment more pay incentives are required (bonus & promotion)

Start thinking concession planning for when the people who have been there 30 years start to retire.

    Pros

Communication and integrity are held very close to their motto and fairness across the board from within the company. Privately owned allows the company to recognize individuals appropriately.

    Cons

IMP Group has very little issues when it comes to "cons" however no company is perfect, it would be nice to have a larger department to work within.

    Advice to Management

Nothing needs to change as far as management is concerned, all management is very fair and easily approached which makes the atmosphere exceptional.
