I have been working at IMRB full-time

      Pros

      1. Steep Learning Curve 2. Hands-on experience on every aspect of a research project life cycle 3. Opportunity to build client interaction skills through on the job training 4. Career path clearly defined 5. Helpful Senior Management 6. International Travel (but only for the International Unit)

      Cons

      1. Work life balance 2. High stress work environment (though quite dependent on the boss and how he/she is planning the work for the team) 3. Reliance on fewer clients for business 4. Use of analytics tools and technology very limited and accessible to a closed group

      Advice to Management

Not much, they are already doing a great job. However, a bit of expertise building in latest tools and techniques can be thought of.

I have been working at IMRB full-time for more than a year

      Pros

      - good pay package. - great learning curve. - majority of the people are friendly and supportive. - very much a homely atmosphere. - centrally and conveniently located (in Kolkata), which is a plus point.

      Cons

      - no work-life balance at all, late nights are very much common for a team member when his/her team is working on a project. - no formal training period; one has to learn things "on the go", which has been proven to be a difficult task for some employees.

      Advice to Management

Try to expand teams. Please do not take up more projects from clients unless and until you expand your teams. This is the biggest need of the hour. Only then, you will be able to solve the biggest con (no work-life balance) ! Also, please organise a 1-2 month training period for new employees. I worked at IMRB full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Very steep learning curve Marquee clients Very helpful seniors/team members On-site opportunities Great place to enter the Market Research community Good opportunities after 2-5 yrs of experience

      Cons

Work life balance - be prepared to see coworkers staring at you if you leave office at 7pm. Average working hours could be anywhere between 12-15 hours if you are good. This is due to culture, client demands, lack of automation, and very very high attrition Stubborn clients and poor data quality often mean that ethics is compromised Top management consists of technical gurus who are not trained to be managers/leaders...

      Advice to Management

Technical expertise does not equal leadership qualities. Invest in training: from email etiquettes to leadership skills. Very high attrition in the industry has led the management to believe that employees are disposable, even as their team members suffer
