I have been working at IMRIS full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

New CEO driving the business to efficiency. Recent corporate move to Minneapolis has enabled the recruitment of talented people, especially in engineering. Strong marketing organization improved many strategic/operational aspects of the company. Interesting problems everyday, with complex products which will disrupt the market once they are launched. Lots of opportunity to improve the business since it has moved out of Winnipeg.

    Cons

IT infrastructure needs improvement across the board. Many people in key roles lack the experience and/or attitude to make this company great. Human resources are not balanced with the workload.

    Advice to Management

Take a close look at VPs and above who have been with the company for a while. They will perpetuate the culture of the old IMRIS. The company needs to move forward with a fresh start. Take measures to show appreciation to top talent and retain them for many years.

I have been working at IMRIS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I have only been at the company for a few years, but it has lived up to all my expectations. The CEO shares what is happening within the company and is not afraid to tell the truth. Due to this open policy, you understand what is happening within the company, and why certain decisions are made.

Most importantly, there is a genuine atmosphere of collaboration and nobody is trying to get ahead. Working here has been a great experience, and has really helped to confirm that there are good companies out there.

    Cons

The only downside to the company is that the technology has not been accepted in the medical space as a necessity. Once that happens, the company will be able to grow and expand beyond the small company that it is today.

I have been working at IMRIS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Working on bleeding edge systems that push the boundaries of medical imaging. Limitless job satisfaction when you see first hand the effect these systems give to patient care and tumor recession. Great group of people to work with.

    Cons

The travel makes many nights sleeping in a hotel room. But on the same coin you keep your points to take nice vacations for next to nothing.

I have been working at IMRIS full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Jay has done a great job of turning around the company from where it was before he came. There have been departures at the executive level which may look bad to investors, but the change has been positive. New management are driving towards a more strategic, innovative culture that will produce results. It's a different strategy, that should attract a different class of investor.

    Cons

We need more people in the company who have a background in surgical medical device product development.

We need to work more closely with surgeons during product development.

We need to improve our reputation with investors/industry.

    Advice to Management

Please review each person in the organization, identify the true leaders, and give them the formal leadership opportunities to help you drive this company towards profitability and commercial success. Reorg now, past performance is the best indicator of future results. There are many who are passionate and working hard to make IMRIS a $8/share stock again, but there are also some who are weighing down the organization with their negativity, lack of clinical knowledge, lack of industry knowledge, lack of teamwork, and lack of optimism. Please do not let the latter drive away the former.

    Pros

Good pay, good location, benefits are pretty decent. Great cafeteria and the product itself makes you feel good about what you do.

    Cons

Lots of disorganization. People don't seem to know what is really needed and the track seems to change each week.

I have been working at IMRIS full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The laid back work environment, cafeteria, the fitness center/showers, the flexible schedule, and above all, health and life benefits, and the thought of the good outcome of the patients that get treated with out equipment.

    Cons

Lack of direction and accountability. There is no real managed structure in certain departments where structure is everything. The leadership is more worried about getting things done quick rather than doing it right and making sure it's well thought out and documented properly. Documentation needs major attention.

    Advice to Management

Be more proactive in holding your employees accountable for the output of quality deliverables and the time it takes to reach specific goals. All departments need attention in this area.
