I worked at INC Research full-time

    Pros

They hire without experience so great place to get into industry. People are nice. Great place to begin to learn the ins and outs of the industry. The managers I had were great and were helpful.

    Cons

The pay at INC in this contracts department is way below the industry norm. The bonuses are terrible to the point they are almost insulting. I put in my time and took a much better job after 1.5 years here.

I worked at INC Research full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The travel coffee cup, notepad, pens, and backpack you receive at orientation. The former CEO Alistair MacDonald is a very sincere genuine individual, I am glad he is distancing himself from this company.

    Cons

Multi-tiers of management and not enough people to do the actual work. There would be conference calls with four tiers of management above me on the call, who did nothing to help or add value to the process. Management does little more than sit around and gossip about employees. Management is allowed to fire employees for reasons as petty as one versus two spaces after a period, and the company allows it. Good, talented employees are not appreciated and are run off if anyone feels threatened by their skill set.

    Very poor work life balance.

HR works for the company and is not an advocate for employees at all.

I have been working at INC Research full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very flexible work schedule and ability to work from home if needed (Austin office). The entire company is closed for almost two weeks in December and you still receive pay.

    Cons

False promises, workload, and low pay. I have noticed a pattern with myself and colleagues who have been promised promotions but still haven't received them 8-9 months later. I have the most tasked work on my study but am lowest paid. Project Specialists are treated as assistants so they many times do a lot of work outside of their job scope. The starting rate of pay is pretty low and it takes a long time to get a promotion or significant raise.

    Advice to Management

Be honest with employees on promotion timelines.

I worked at INC Research full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    This company had great benefits.

    Cons

There was a great deal of miscommunication in my Business Unit. There were a lot of new staff, 50% of the employees were less than 2 years into the company. This makes for learning the company's processes difficult. There are a ton of SOPs and training.

I have been working at INC Research (Less than a year)

    Pros

    -Structure
    -Not the "large CRO" feel

-New initiatives to better relate to employees
-The Trusted Process backbone for trials
    -Explosive growth/new business
-Employees who enjoy coming to work and their jobs

    Cons

-Work load can sometimes be stressful
-Turnover, but no more than most other CRO's
-Explosive growth can sometimes muddy the waters of seeing where the company is going
-Growth has put constraints on resourcing

    Advice to Management

    -Continue to invest in employees
    -Continue to listen to employees
-Hire more people to keep up with the boom

I have been working at INC Research (Less than a year)

    Pros

Projects cover a wide range of interesting topics. Training is constant, so I feel I am keeping up with the business world in general and this industry in particular, plus getting specialized education about individual clients' needs. I enjoy having colleagues globally. The benefits, such as health insurance and 401(k) match, are decent. Besides regular PTO the company gives you a week off with pay in December. All levels of management seek feedback on various subjects at various times. Business casual attire is acceptable for most people. Telecommuting is OK for most people. Everyone is courteous and has a professional demeanor. The new hire orientation program at headquarters was terrific; it definitely got me started with optimism. I do not feel like "just a number."

    Cons

I like the environment but others don't because you must keep up the intense pace and have great attention to detail. I've seen smart people fail because they could not sit still and concentrate long enough. You must be able to handle deadlines. Sometimes you work harder than at others to accomplish important goals. You must work independently a lot (although there is support) and be flexible. You frequently multi-task. As a new employee I was disappointed with my first raise considering how hard I'd worked and how much positive feedback I'd gotten. (However, as noted above, other compensation like health insurance and 401(k) are appreciated. Next year work on salary?)

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. The corporate culture is headed in the right direction. I hope as you become more successful so do I.
