    Pros

The mission statement - it's awesome to be able to help students develop the necessary skillsets, knowledge and career related experience that will help them become successful in their careers.

    Cons

Definitely requires alot of work and time management - we are responsible for managing relationships with corporate sponsors, coach interns, recruit students and acquire new sponsors; can be challenging to have a life and meet all of your deliverables.

    Advice to Management

Need to reward employees more based on accomplishments; create more opportunities for advancement; increase incentives such as bonuses, tuition reimbursement, etc.

    I worked at INROADS full-time

    Pros

Mission, co-workers (not senior management) and making a difference

    Cons

Long hours. Management setting unrealistic goals for staff. Sr. Management focused on numbers and not ensuring the students and companies have a positive experience.

    Advice to Management

You can't expect to improve placement results if your volume (internships) continues to drop, but you increase your fees. Companies are learning to do INROADS better than you and cheaper.

I have been working at INROADS full-time

    Pros

INROADS' mission to develop and place talented underserved youth in business and industry and prepare them for corporate and community leadership is great!

    Cons

The leadership is terrible. There is little to no formal structure of work processes and sustainability. What the CEO wants, he gets! High employee turnover.

    Pros

Great mission. Colleagues shared a strong passion to work at INROADS

    Cons

Senior leadership took the organization in a direction that was not best for the organization. 5 years later INROADS is not as competitive as it could be with similar non-profit programs.

    Advice to Management

Give the organization a facelift starting with senior leadership

I have been working at INROADS full-time

    Pros

Great flexibility and work-life balance. Good organization for professionals who want to make a difference in student's lives.

    Cons

The students you recruit, coach, mentor and train graduate from college making more money than you do. Very lean organization. High attrition. Only one position has a clear career path but good luck climbing the ladder. Recruiters fill the talent pool but Managers get all the bonuses for placements (of course there hasn't been budget for that in years). Great vision from leadership, BUT SERIOUSLY lacking in execution. Everything is a scramble...day late dollar short.

    I worked at INROADS full-time

    Pros

Great, flexible schedule, but expect some evenings and weekends to achieve results.

    Cons

Company has unrealistic expectations of results. Must have a sales mentality on both sides, students and companies, to be successful. Also, resources are greatly limited, so workers must be creative in getting the job done. Also underpaid by any standard.

    Advice to Management

Be what you want to see.

    I worked at INROADS full-time

    Pros

You work here because you love the mission. You will not get rich financially, but you will get to see young people find themselves and see that the world is bigger than they ever thought. Every employee is mission driven and it shows.

    Cons

It's a typical non-profit where people are continually asked to do more with less.

    Advice to Management

You are only as successful as your employees. Those on the ground know what they need and it's your job to listen and respond accordingly.

    Cons

Limited Mobility. Not for profit salary.

    I worked at INROADS full-time

    Pros

The mission, co-workers who cared about and understood the mission.

    Cons

Low pay, operating in the red for years, service to students has decreased dramatically, insular management

    Advice to Management

Focus on the mission and stop trying to force fit the wrong internships to the wrong students, and pressuring managers to place students with focus on quantity instead of quality.
