I have been working at IPG Mediabrands full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    Big company with ambitious plans
Interesting application of technology to advertising
Organization switched to a product focus from a project oriented way of doing
Great variety of issues being tackled: reporting normalization, campaign management productivity, algorithmic optimization, etc.

    Cons

Agency culture of "I need this perfect and yesterday" is still prevalent and sometimes not compatible with Agile
Lack of cross product discipline makes weak coordination between product lines and generates confusion regarding who should build what

I have been working at IPG Mediabrands full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Recent Mediabrands Data & Tech re-org has created a number of opportunities from a career perspective. Recent Acxiom acquisition offers tremendous market opportunity and a major point of differentiation to clients.
There's palpable progress towards real change within the org, process improvement, market viability, and shifts in attitudes/culture among employees.

    Cons

Some employees have scar tissue and baggage from org challenges of the past.

    Advice to Management

Share your vision with everyone. All the time. Then share it again. The perception that leadership is flawed can be easily abated if you communicate more.
Talk to every employee, not just your directs. Assume that information needs to be shared early, often, and on an ongoing basis with a regular cadence -- to everyone. Over-communicate.

I worked at IPG Mediabrands (Less than a year)

    Pros

Even though I was an intern, I was doing REAL work with my manager and teams. It was almost like a training session for an associates position.

    Great environment.
    Diverse.
    Amazing people.
    Free food everywhere.
    Free beverages on every floor.
Can attend meetings with the people in your team.
Pitch Project for a big company towards the end.

    Cons

Too much free food, be aware, you might gain a few pounds.
My manager, in particular, was too strict with timesheet and projects but I understand it was for my own good.
