I worked at IPSCO full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Solid company, likes to grow employees for Sr. Positions internally, good benefits, supportive environment, environmentally conscious.

    Cons

Salary is a little low. Chicago "tough" culture, very formal environment. Middle management is mixed. Swedish Corp. office keeps buying new companies and shaking things up.

    Advice to Management

Lot's of expansion is not always good. Settle on a core product line first.

I have been working at IPSCO full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

This is a great company to work for, and one of the safest steel mills in north America. Love working here

    Cons

Mill locations are in the middle of no where, Mobile is very slow, wish it was closer to a big city.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!

I have been working at IPSCO full-time

    Pros

Great pay, good people. Small company feel (at least to me). They've been improving since I've been here, and I can see things heading in a better direction, but it is a slow go.

    Cons

Outdated systems, IT, poor company performance (partly driven by economic conditions, but also seems somewhat driven by management). As previously stated, changes are slow to happen, but that is to be expected from a company this size. It is foreign owned, which can sometimes cause issues. Primary issue seems like lack of communication.

    Advice to Management

Take advice from the people you hire. They should be there for a reason. Also, watch what is said to employees. Think about how information may or may not be interpreted by the individuals at the lower level.

Good Pay, Good Benifits. Excellent executive staff keeps the company alive.

    Cons

Very top heavy with useless middle management. HR department is full of some of the worst people I have ever worked with.

    Advice to Management

    Treat emplyee's with some respect.
