    Negative Outlook

I worked at ITE (Institute of Transportation Engineers) full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Staff generally very cordial and laid back, especially considering that the work they do is often technical and, on top of that, very very dry.

    Cons

If you're good at your job, forget it. Management couldn't care less. There is no quality control to speak of, and what matters more is how well you "play with others." I got along fine with everyone there, but at the end of the day was micromanaged, even in a senior position. Seriously--forget being recognized for good work. If your work product matters to you, steer clear. This is a hive of mediocrity. During my tenure, I saw numerous people laid off--and then-CEO Tom Brahms gave them not even the dignity of a warning: They were sent packing with a box, none of them allowed to even speak to their colleagues. That is an undignified way to treat people. I was glad to see Brahms go. He is an egomaniac whose skill doesn't match his self-assessment.

    Advice to Management

Tend to the organization's mission and values and respect the expertise of your professional staff. Stop taking on pet and/or vanity projects that, despite warnings from your staff, result in massive loss and layoffs.
