    Pros

Decent hours, most people work 40 hr weeks and do not try very hard. Some groups are well respected on the street (TCA, Algos).

    Cons

This company has been in steady decline over the past few years. Many of the lower level people are smart and capable, but are treated poorly (particularly tech people and programmers) with below industry salaries and no career path within the company. They rarely promote from within. They also have a bad habit of moving new hires to different groups than they were offered (front office -> middle/back office). Management is relatively directionless and blame the decline on volumes, but there is little sign of the company turning around. Big round of layoffs in July 2011 and likely more to come.

    Advice to Management

Play to the strengths of the company and get a better sales staff to push the products. This is a technology company that doesn't treat its tech employees well, no wonder it's struggling.

I have been working at ITG full-time

    Pros

Nice area to work in. Some managers and people in other departments are great- I was not so lucky.

    Cons

Employees are poorly compensated and work in a more than normal stress environment. There is very little to no training provided and very few who want to take the time to teach your their infrastructure or procedures. There is no transparency between departments and teams making it near impossible to work together. More office politics than anywhere I've seen. Very small teams meaning very little room of moving up. High turn over for a reason.

    Advice to Management

I don't even know where to begin.

I have been working at ITG full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Smaller firm and can move up if you're a top performer. Exposure to the markets and you'll learn fast if you willing to be open and take it all in. Work life balance is much better lately (caveat that there is less work for everyone) so it's a trade off that you have to decide it's worth it or not.

    Cons

If the flood of reviews last week wasn't so "suspicious", I wouldn't have written this review. A lot of old management and middle management clog up the corporation. They should have cleaned house even more with developers and people who waste time and take forever getting anything done. Extremely high turnover rate, even for new hires as they come in and learn that it's not the place to be. Make sure to ask groups why they're consistently hiring for such a small/medium size firm. Laughably low compensation compared to industry. They might compete on salary for new hires but ask around and you'll see not many advance past that in terms of salary. They give out titles like candy to keep you around. Don't fall for it they keep you around so it gets harder for you to find a better job elsewhere.

    Advice to Management

Keep cleaning house. A lot of middle management/ developers brought you down during the SEC investigation, clean out and start over so clients can have more confidence in the new firm.

    Pros

    laid back company;
    quiet and peaceful environment

    Cons

    very low salary
    highly bureaucratic
    no growth
employees generally have a lazy mindset; If you dont want to learn, dont want to work, dont want to grow, then this is the place

    Advice to Management

Eliminate bureaucratic managers who are concerned about their job safety and create a passionate environment that supports learning and growing

    Pros

    Work-life balance is good
    Flexible hours
Low turnover. Lots of employees with 10-20 year tenures
Great place to relax and prepare for retirement

    Cons

Despite having the word Technology in their name, they are 10 years behind current tech trends. Future outlook doesn't look great

I worked at ITG full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There were no pros working in this horrible environment.

    Cons

During 2013-2014 the businesses units were siloed and the different trading desks were losing clients as they did not want to cooperate and work together. The working environment was toxic as the most senior managers micromanaged everyone, created an extremely toxic working environment and lured in some sales people with commission structures that were not remotely obtainable.

    Advice to Management

Since I left, the board fired the senior management that were toxic and sold off non-core business units, so that was a great idea.

I have been working at ITG full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some very friendly and smart people work here.
The work is exciting, and there is a lot to learn.

    Cons

    Lay offs every year
    Petty Human Resources team
All round, if you want to be treated like you don't matter, and deal with the whims and fancies of the upper management who have new ideas every year to let go of the most talented and loyal employees, go for it.

    Advice to Management

Please fix your attitude and value your employees.

    Pros

Excellent, skilled people and supportive environment.

    Cons

Frequent and poorly considered redundancies. Staff treated like office equipment that can be relocated or disposed of on a whim.

    Advice to Management

For long term growth, actually invest in staff and hardware - artificial boosts to the share price will only fool the market for so long.
