Company has good intentions but they need to learn how to demonstrate this to the employees.

      Pros

Many of the local employees, probably all, truly want to help people improve their lives and their living situations. There is a culture of compliance and integrity from the corporate level to the employee level.

      Cons

HQ has many unrealistic expectations. Many times they create metrics that are unreasonable and at times conflict with other goals within the same department. The culture is such that employees fear letting upper management know what they truly think and how they feel about something. There is no room for suggesting changes that would make things better and possibly more successful. As a result, the stress level is high.

      Terrible

      Pros

      They pay is pretty good.

      Cons

Don't work here. The hours are horrible. Work at least two late nights until 9 PM and at least every other Saturday if not more. If there is an orientation, a phone a thon, open house you are expected to be there. Reps and financial aid are expected to work and stay late at the drop of a hat. Don't make plans for after work because you might have to stay late. There is no work life balance. Oh and they make you work holidays. That is usually decide this the week before a holiday after you have already made plans. They say it is required and you will be written up if you don't come in. Doesn't matter if you have plans either. Turn over is rampant at this place especially in the Admissions department, but all departments are effected. The goals that you are given to reach are unrealistic, and if management is expected to hammer people to meet these unrealistic goals. Upper management is a complete joke, and headquarters give no support. HQ doesn't roll out new procedures that are well planned. They throw things out at the last minute and expect the employees in the field to deal with it. This company is horrible.

High Stress, Little Chance for Advancement

Dec 16, 2012 - Educational Recruiter in Little Rock, AR

      Pros

Decent pay. Not a physically-demanding job. Coworkers are fun people. Nice facilities, decent parking.

      Cons

Remote upper management interferes with local marketing department employees' schedules, often with little warning. Little chance for advancement within the company. When asked about it directly, a middle manager informed us that they don't promote from within on a "losing team," ignoring the fact that more than a few individuals on the team were performing at or above the expected level. If you're unsuccessful in a particular role, but show skills that would suit a different position, you will be blocked from transferring (by policy) if you received a warning within the last 6 months related to your current position (even if it wouldn't apply to the skill set needed for the desired job). High turnover rate. Over the time I've been there, there's often been inadequate training, too. Oh, and the health insurance offered was terrible.

      Pros

schedule ok. dress code not too bad. i have a great manager.

      Cons

old systems. overly frustrating processes. upper management has unrealistic expectations, does not care about employees or students. compensation is very poor. instead of working on technology upgrades or processes that would help all employees and in benefit to instructors, and students, upper management expects everyone to work harder with 100s of steps and exceptions in each process. mostly manual. lots of room for error which is not acceptable. a few of the directors treat highly educated people like children in a daycare worrying about lunchtimes and vacations instead of how to make itt a great school for everyone.

Great place to work, bad company to work for

      Pros

Had great coworkers, fun work environment.

      Cons

Out of touch and uncaring upper management who viewed students and employees as numbers. Unrealistic goals set for all departments, setting them up for failure. Emphasis placed on recruiting, academics and other departments ignored. Most staff forced to take on dual roles being grossly underpaid. No room for advancement. Long hours, having to work on holidays whenever management thinks that company goals aren't being met. Unstable, you never knew when your position would be dissolved.

      Pros

My boss is great--best manager ever

      Cons

Generally, employees talk about leaving as "getting out" as if you are in prison; this very negative attitude occurs with most every long-term employee and is likely based on the lack of "listening" from upper management. Please see suggestions.

      Waste of time

      Pros

They pay really well to treat you like garbage and have the opportunity to walk all over you.

      Cons

Your job as an "admissions rep" consists mostly of calling prospective students 3-5 times a day. Most of the time you get hung up on and swore at and then you are still required to call these people until they request their number be removed. If you are lucky enough to schedule an interview, most students are turned off by the $45k tuition for an associates. All the while upper management is constantly threatening to fire you while doing nothing constructive to help you.

Take the Good with the Bad

      Pros

ITT Tech provides paid sick time and vacation time as well as holidays off with pay. One of the managers in my department is really great. I like the people I work with in my department.

      Cons

One of the managers is unethical and gets away with too much bad behavior. Other employees get away with being lazy or rude to other employees or prospective students. It doesn't seem like upper management cares about their employees. It is not the most stable job. If you don't hit your numbers you will be terminated.

Not what was told to me in the interview

May 31, 2014 - Admissions Representative Detroit Area in Detroit, MI

      Pros

The coworkers!!! They are so supportive of each other and will help you out I'm a heartbeat. Also, higher ed is important, so helping those who want and will do well in computer technology school felt good to do(even if it was 45k for an associates).

      Cons

Micromanaging, someone is always watching you even if you are doing your job, criticized when you do not do well but the mangers take all the credit when you do well. Constantly bombarded with negativity and failures, yet no hands on help from upper management and no positive motivation or praise. Also, the job is basically cold calling people who have been called for years and years, with bad phone numbers and hang ups, but it's your fault if they don't pick up the phone.
