    Pros

Exciting place to work, getting to work on flagship shows, surrounded by employees with vast amounts of experience, a great media hub.

    Cons

Lots of shift work, long hours, due to the nature of the industry, it can be highly pressurised, hard to get a work life balance,

I worked at ITV full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - ITV is a great brand on the CV. You feel proud to work there.
    - Solid exposure to advertising sales - top ITV ad-space is still very sought after so you work with huge campaigns from day one, and it's great exposure to the media agency scene.
    - Work/Life balance - office is a ghost town come 17.50!
    - Social, both employee lead and company events, is good
    - Bosses are generally personable and approachable- culture where no one takes themselves too seriously
    - Decent bonus, but..

    Cons

    - poor basic renumeration. People slave away for years to reach salaries most companies would pay entry level grads.
    - Archaic promotion process, largely unmeritocratic
    - limited opportunity to develop autonomy over your work or portfolio. A lot of the work is menial and repetitive.
    - behind on digital - does not develop a futureproof workforce, despite the clear demands of the industry
    - As a result of all the above the workforce in general is pretty unmotivated

    Advice to Management

Pay better, and promote on merit, or people will continue to leave.

    Better digital learning and development.

Better inter-departmental collaboration- sales floor feels too independent from the wider business at times.

I worked at ITV as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

My colleagues were all supportive, caring and friendly. My manager actually cared about my development and would regularly let me do 'taster days' with other departments so I could gain more skills in house. Good working flexible working hours. A happy environment.

    Cons

The salary of being an apprentice was diabolical (I know when I left, it was raised by 3k - but still). Not me personally, but other colleagues I met at my time there was treated so unfairly. Some departments took advantage of the youth within their sector.

    Advice to Management

Treat everyone like the human they are.

    Pros

    Great starter in media
Good events (ones you get invited to)
    Good benefits
    Share scheme
Great hours - never have to stay behind/come in early

    Cons

Constant feel of having to prove yourself if you want to progress
Very lazy team who can get by doing the bare minimum
    Takes ages to be promoted

    Advice to Management

Reward those who work hard and stop treating staff as if they are in school

    Pros

    The people
    The brand.
    Work life balance is good
    The people
On site canteen with free tea and coffee
    The people

    Cons

Management don't have a clue and are insular.
    There is no career progression.
    The lifts at SBK
    No appreciation of staff
Standard bonus for all staff and no performance related recognition
Claim that their people are their greatest assets.. use them, abuse them and then throw them away when not useful any more

    Advice to Management

Staff love the brand but management needs to appreciate them. Should look at a complete review of all managers and ditch the rubbish

    Pros

The work is interesting, the people are very friendly and the office is in a great location on the Southbank.

    Cons

Pay is relatively poor, training could be a bit better, career progression can be hard and some of the facilities are simply not good enough.

    Advice to Management

Former Intern - Work Experience in Leeds, England (UK)

I worked at ITV as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lots of exposure to senior team at Calendar programme for ITV in Leeds. Got to experience lots of different aspects of making a new programme.

    Cons

Was given very little actual work to do and majority was just shadowing and watching others do work. Often ignored and felt as if I was often in the way.

    Advice to Management

Try and get work experience employees more engaged and devise a clear programme for them, the whole experience felt as if it was devised as they went along.

I worked at ITV (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great all round experience. Lots of opportunities to work on different shows, locations, etc

    Cons

Often very little or no opportunity to progress within the company. Far too management heavy. I found over the years that my role actually appeared less senior due to increased management levels.

    Advice to Management

Surprisingly they have a lot to learn on how to retain good staff and not send them packing as soon as there is a small change to deal with.
