    I worked at ITW Global Brands full-time

    Pros

    You gain experience in a multi- company environment with strong brands and as a market leader. Always willing to invest in people and opportunity as long as the return is worthwhile. Some very talented people help to bring home the wins and over-come the in fighting among the groups.

    Cons

    No real leadership at the top because of the unique way in which the different brands are focused. Very little room for people to grow or for the talent to stand out. So much energy is spent on not failing creating finger pointing enviroment causing risk takers feel discouraged. Multiple silo's that are well intrenched make it very hard for different departments to work together. Process and procedure is everything.

    Advice to Management

    Get more in touch with the markets you serve and opportunities that exist besides meeting corporate matrix.

    Pros

    Freedom to learn many new things in the Retail Automotive After Market. Hours are flexible. Management does not micro manage.

    Cons

    Pillars of management do not play well together in the corporate sandbox. Lack of true focus and leadership versus what is communicated in the monthly Town Hall meetings. No true innovation of company products. Not technologically advanced with computer systems. If you like to perform all your work manually, then this is the place for you.

    Advice to Management

    Listen to your management team and subordinates who are the ones that do the real work in the company. Utilize the readily available off the shelf software systems out there in the industry.

    Pros

    Good work environment with a decent training process. Stable growing company.

    Cons

    Company is slow to give raises, or promote from within if they want to keep you in a specific department for their benefit. They will keep you as a work horse and not compensate. They pile on additional clients/customers if you are great at your job but do not give raises when they say they will.

    Advice to Management

    Structure better annual or semi-annual raises.

    Pros

    Excellent brands, entrepreneurial freedom from corporate HQ, fantastic relationship with key retail accounts, strong leadership, revitalized several areas that needed adjustment, awesome benefits, sharing of company's results is detailed

    Cons

    Room for advancement is limited, a very few number of subpar players put a bit of a strain on the growth potential, growth is tough in the auto aftermarket area

    Advice to Management

    Continue to address issue of quiet culture (have a little more fun), reward those who are amazing and cut bait on those 3-4 folks who are simply not delivering, don't take everything so seriously, move to a safer location

    Pros

    - A few directors are competent.
    - A few departments are close knit (but most are not)
    - Well known brands
    - Convenient location.

    Cons

    - Zero room for growth.
    - No corporate culture
    - Poor middle management
    - Very, very high turnover.
    - For most, this is a temporary stop between other jobs

    Advice to Management

    - Train your middle managers how to manage people - they are no longer individual contributors
    - Develop culture

    Pros

    The company has very strong brands with strong consumer loyalty. The sales agencies are very strong and make up for some of the corporate short falls.

    Cons

    Very poor business processes with little appreciation for distribution channels resulting in conflicts with trading partners. Poor financial tracking tools and systems that get in the way of selling and developing customer relationships. Poor sales performers are rewarded over those who drive solid sales and profit results.

    Advice to Management

    Clean house at the top and develop solid strategic business plans that align with the retail customers.
