    Pros

Professional attorneys, great client relationships, well respected firm.

    Cons

Some of the internal database/programs are difficult to learn.

I worked at Ice Miller full-time

    Pros

Great opportunity to work with some very hard-working attorneys.

    Cons

Accounting management is all over the map. They only care about upper management, often times leaving their actual team feeling worthless and immediately replaceable. They are dishonest and don't stick up for their team members. They are quick to place blame on other people instead of taking responsibility for their own weaknesses. Training is almost nonexistent. Monthly meetings are like a record on repeat. The team is told how terrible they are and the same things are said in every single meeting. Instead of trying to figure out why their team is making the same mistakes over and over they just tell you to stop doing it. They offer help because they have to but they never actually help. Ultimately, because the people they have put in place to lead have no clue how to lead. The Human Resources department is not there for the employee. They are there to protect the company and they will by any means necessary. They don't care about the administrative staff, they only care about the attorneys. The awards they won for best place for women to work was for female ATTORNEYS, not administration.

    Advice to Management

Don't lie and hide things from your team. Recognize the talent that each individual brings to the table. LISTEN to the people at the bottom (the ones actually doing the work). Let your team VOTE on a leader instead of forcing them to follow one no one has any respect for.

    Pros

The Christmas party is infamous and rightfully so. Good benefits - gym reimbursement, good HSA contributions, competitive insurance, etc. Usually free food somewhere if you can find it.

    Cons

Where to even begin? I have never experienced a more childish environment in my life. I think even compared to high school pettiness, Ice Miller would top that. Coworkers gossip on an HOURLY basis and people try to get way too involved in your personal life. The environment is toxic. Attorneys think they are better than anyone employed at the firm without a law degree and treat you as such. Everyone who works here has no concept of reality. If you're not an attorney there is also zero room for growth unless someone leaves or is fired.

    Paying for parking downtown.

Anyone who is younger is automatically looked down upon and treated pretty rudely by everyone whether that be attorneys or assistants.

    Advice to Management

Just because someone is a partner at the firm doesn't mean they can harass employees without consequences. Get morale up or you will keep losing people like you have been.

    Pros

Free lunches from time to time.

    Cons

Favoritism, culture has changed. Its like a gang, you have to be with the firm for years to get respect. High School vibes, a lot of gossip

    Advice to Management

Please pay more attention to staff (Paralegals included). Raises are horrible, health insurance caters to Indiana office. Paralegals don't have opportunity to meet hour quota.

    Pros

    Downtown location and pretax parking.

    Cons

Burnout is fast. Conflicting directions from HR and people you are assigned to. Lawyers compete with each other on a daily basis. For me this was very stressful

    Advice to Management

Take a good look at those in your HR and business development departments.

    Pros

Implementing a lot a newer technology which is lacking with other law firms.

    Cons

It's a law firm. It has it's ups and it's downs.

    Pros

    Co workers and downtown location

    Cons

Office management incapable of managing in a law office environment. Company only concerned about offices in other locations not in Columbus.

    Advice to Management

Your workers are your greatest asset. Every location matters.

    Pros

It once at a great reputation

    Cons

This place sux. Greed greed greed. Us little peasants, or more lovingly referred to by HR as an archaic 1950's term "secretary" which is a sexist and demeaning reference especially to those of us with college degrees, are treated like monkeys. They have no respect for the staff and treat us like we are all criminals. God forbid you complain about something bc then you have a target on your back and will be harassed until you either quit or get fired. HR makes up BS to put you on "probation" which means you might as well pack your bags bc u have one foot out the door. They always change policies to benefit them and screw staff out of vacation or sick time. They fire long term higher paid assistants so they can hire in less qualified people for half the pay. It's a horrible horrible place to work. The CFO only wants to line his pockets. Do not work here

    Advice to Management

Do away with HR and it would be a great place to work. The founding members would be appalled at how the firm now treats the staff.

    Pros

Excellent firm, good reputation, excellent resources and good camaraderie among colleagues. Pay and benefits are top drawer.

    Cons

Hard to be critical, I was let go because practice I was in was not making any money. It was not Ice Miller's fault. They gave us time and resources to make it work.

    Advice to Management

Clearer expectations during the interview process regarding revenue generation might help the next person. Overall, though, pretty good place to work.
