I have been working at Idera Software full-time for less than a year

    Pros

It's been a fantastic company to work for. I love the direction and leadership principles. It's down to earth, with no glitzy frills, but Idera teams are great to work with!

    Cons

    There are no free meals.

I worked at Idera Software full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Great co-workers... and fun environment at times

    Cons

They are a buy and gut shop... they buy up software companies... eliminate 80% of work force and expenses... off-shore all R&D work on a fixed cost model and ride out out the revenue stream as long as they can... eventually the off-shore fixed cost model will drastically affect the quality of the product they are working on... by exec team isn't interesting in preserving quality... its strictly a numbers game......

I have been working at Idera Software full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Due to the speed of growth of the company and constant new acquisitions there are always people being promoted internally - Management believes in promoting smart and hard workers even if it means stretching you outside your comfort zone - Company is very profitable so no risk of layoffs due to cash flow problems like many companies (especially start ups) - I have built an amazing network of hard working ambitious...

    Cons

    - Cash compensation is low vs the market - Not a place to go for work life balance - Finance/Accounting department is a total disaster and bottleneck - Wide skill gap in some positions due to their promote from within policy (some people are way under qualified for their roles) - Culture is driven by the CEO; if you like his approach then great, if not then you will likely be looking for work soon

    Advice to Management

Delegate. Too many strings are held by the CEO personally as a bottleneck. No one can even be hired without his personal approval.

I worked at Idera Software full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - The ability to say "I work at a large tech company in Austin" - The schedule is flexible and a manageable work-life balance is attainable if you do not invest yourself in caring much about the work part. - Some of the team members are great - you just never know who is going to stay and the turnover could be used as a way to wipe the board clean and get back to how feedback looked from 2015-2017. - There's a party...

    Cons

    - The inability to say "I am happy working at a large tech company in Austin" - The relationships between upper management, sales, and marketing are not healthy. - When you apply for a job (if you even get to speak with your potential coworkers), highly recommend you ask current employees how long they have been there & if they are happy - it does not take much to read between the lines to see what they won't say....

    Advice to Management

    - Focus on your people, you are declining at a rapid rate but that can change. You can find people with actual management skills from the name alone - make an attempt to keep these people from leaving. - Become a place where people understand how and why they get paid. The low salaries would not be as unsettling if you become honest with your employees. - Read Glassdoor! Read employee feedback over the past year and...

I worked at Idera Software full-time for less than a year

    Pros

No Pros that I can come up with.

    Cons

No regard for any person in the acquired company. Communication is non-existent, which terrifies all employees who have seen all of their management summarily dismissed. This is their goal as employees start a mass exodus. This allows them to reduce these costs will increase margins. Product and customer knowledge are not valued in any way which will ultimately lead to mass dissatisfaction. They hope the lost maintenance...

    Advice to Management

Any advice would be meaningless as they have their plan and follow it blindly regardless of the type of company or culture of any company they have acquired.

I worked at Idera Software full-time for less than a year

    Pros

They only promote within after an acquisition, so if you are under the Idera Software umbrella you might have a chance to grow. Otherwise, you will have a new manager who you will never hear from.

    Cons

They are acquiring company after company with the hopes of being sold. I worked for one of the companies acquired, and it was a textbook business class case study of what not to do if you value the assets (employees) you are acquiring even the slightest. I was assigned a new manager who had little to no experience and didn't take any effort to learn our business. I was a critical piece to the business, and no one cared...

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, because I think this is what you want and it is your playbook. If you show even the slightest bit more interest in the people you acquired, you might risk them trying to stay to help. PS - No one cares about your summer company party at the owners house.

    Cons

they bought the company i used to work for. All they talked about was how transparent they are. Then people started being shown the door and no announcements were made. All information was 2nd and 3rd hand. Everyone started fearing for their jobs, and no one at Idera would let them know anything. By far the least transparent company I've worked for. I worked at Idera Software full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Not a one, maybe a few individuals that need to get the hell out of there too. I take that back, the SE team is the only good thing and they are extremely undervalued.

    Cons

Everything, while working there myself and everyone experiences abuse - unless you are one of their prize ponies. There is a handful, probably not many anymore, that get to do what ever they want; work from home, straight up steal a deal from the rest, and get double the territory and accounts, but are not held to the daily metrics like the rest. The rest get shamed and threatened if not 100 dials, and exceeding the...

    Advice to Management

Good luck getting a job when the lights go out. You’ve been so horrible to everyone. So many former reps out there, it’d be a cold day in hell before you’d get a good reference.

I worked at Idera Software full-time for more than a year

    Pros

The camaraderie that you might build with prospective colleagues. Great reward trips if you earn them. A flexible and comfortable working environment that doesn't take itself too seriously.

    Cons

The story here is that the cons vastly outweigh the pros. If you look at the mass exodus of the braintrust here, you'll see a story that has been in the works for a long time. None of the people left have any experience from what was in place years ago, the products are broken and have been severely outpaced by competitive products. There is ZERO culture here and don't even think about getting employee development whatsoever....

I worked at Idera Software full-time

    Pros

    Relaxed environment, reasonable compensation plan.

    Cons

No 401k contribution. Company is very cliquey, only certain friends of management get deals. Main tools are being released increasingly buggy and difficult to sell.

    Advice to Management

Maybe spend some of the 80's metal band budget on improving the tools.
