I have been working at Illini Media part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

There are so many things to learn. From AP style to tracking down sources to designing pages in InDesign, you can pick up a new skill every day. The employees are dedicated and are working to make it one of the best college media companies.

    Cons

It's labor intensive for a college job. Be prepared to work hard and learn to advocate for yourself. If you want to succeed, you'll need to be dedicated.

I have been working at Illini Media part-time

    Pros

Good place to learn new friends and make easy money.

    Cons

Sometimes you will feel little boring because the work is pretty like the direct marketing. But if you like it, the company might be a good choice.

I worked at Illini Media full-time

    Pros

Illini Media is full of vibrant, young people looking to learn and grow. The effect you will have on their life is pretty tremendous.

    Cons

Unfortunately, as a self-funded Media company, the pay and benefits are not great. This is not a place to go if you're looking for internal growth.

    Advice to Management

New management is a great first step. Finding alternative revenue sources would be an ideal first place to start, it's hard out there for ad-supported businesses.

    Pros

Fun place to work and you have a lot of freedom. You learn and are able to grow professionally and creatively.

    Cons

Can be really disorganized. When new people are hired, they're just kind of thrown into things without being given any training or information about the job. (ex: you can't get into the office from the elevator after 5, some new employees were never given cards to get upstairs and would be locked out)
