    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Illinois Central Management Services as an intern

    Pros

Nice place to work in downtown, friendly people, good team spirit, manager keeps the people motivated. Great place to work.

    Cons

Lack of people, need to increase the workforce to fulfill the work demand. Few people on contract are really old and slow.

    Pros

    Great initial experience.
Some upper level management actually cared about providing advancement opportunities
It provided a great way for one to get their feet wet in the public sector and see "policy" at work

    Cons

    Most people seemed burnt out
Workers completed their work in a very systematic yet uncaring fashion
Employees loved throwing parties, but it seemed more geared towards providing extended social hours

    Advice to Management

Actually take time to care about your employees and stop all of the in office secrecy. Make sure to include all levels of the food chain in various discussions and actually clue new employees in on the office's inner working/ exactly what everyone is truly involved in doing.
