    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Illinois College Of Optometry full-time

    Pros

Excellent Medical and Retirement Benefits, along with tuition reimbursement
    Some talented, and friendly staff
In some departments the opportunity to work from home as needed

    Cons

Location-- Campus is isolated in a cultural/food desert on the South Side

Strange vacation/sick time policy--Sick days have to be "earned", when you get your earned vacation, its not based on hire date, but on the fiscal year

Departments are siloed off from one another, with sometimes poor intercommunication..sometimes the left hand doesnt know what the right hand is doing.

Not a job where you can innovate at or bring in new or progressive ideas.

In some departments there is no career path/opportunity to move up

--a few-- Professors/Doctors with big egos and poor people skills and are difficult to deal with

Techno-phobic atmosphere that won't keep up with the latest technology hardware and software. Many people are still using Windows XP on their Machines

    Advice to Management

To stay competitive, you have to be open to change, new ideas, and new technology to serve both student, faculty, and staff
