    Pros

Good pay compared to same positions in other states. Union protection can be helpful in some situations, and complicates matters in others.

    Cons

Contract negotiations with every new governor means being stuck in a messy political [bleeping] match between the governor and the union, with the threat of having to strike or being locked out. Jobs are very compartmentalized - you can't help anyone, because you'd be robbing them of the opportunity for overtime. Some jobs are busy, some are ridiculously slow with only an hour of work to do per day.

    Pros

Set your own schedule, manage your own time. Lots of windshield time. Autonomous work. Plenty of work to do.

    Cons

Can be dangerous. You are alone most of the time. Back up can be far away. Not for people who are not motivated to do a good job.

    Advice to Management

Keep better tabs on your agents and their safety. Team agents up to reduce costs and increase accountability.
