    Pros

Faculty was Wonderful. So understanding with scheduling tasks and providing opportunities to try new things, like teaching an undergraduate lecture.

    Cons

It really depends on the faculty member as to the overall workload. Some of my classmates far exceeded the number hours they were contracted for.

    Advice to Management

Some GA positions should either be divided into two positions or at least pay the GA for the number of hours they put in over the requirement. Some of my classmates were just too nice to say anything about the extra workload.

    Pros

The chemistry department here is great, there are a wide array of labs to work in and the professors are all genuinely helpful.

    Cons

This is a great graduate school for chemistry, be sure you're prepared to take this next step forward.

    Advice to Management

Every lab is different, every class is different. Everyone on staff is willing to help students with questions, going to graduate school you should know what you're getting yourself into.

I worked at Illinois State part-time

    Pros

I gained great management experience. The hours varied, but they were great with working with your class schedule. It was easy to switch shifts and to pick up hours if need.

    Cons

There was a lot of favoring from student managers to certain employees (friends), which made it hard for other employees to get what they wanted or needed with shift scheduling.

    Advice to Management

Allow student employees to earn a meal with their shift. So much food went to waste at the end of shifts.

I have been working at Illinois State (More than a year)

    Pros

Overall a good place to work.

    Cons

Parking is expensive. Dental insurance is practically useless since the provider isn't more than a year behind in paying, meaning no dentist will take it.

    Advice to Management

Get the issue of Dental Insurance fixed, and now. It is unacceptable that we can't get dental work done due to no dentist accepting our insurance.

    Pros

    Flexible Hours
    Excellent Work Environment
    Management Invested in Worker Happiness

    Cons

Occasionally, there is a lack of perceived discipline amongst the other student workers.. which isn't necessarily a bad thing, flexibility in disciplinary action relative to the individual can be positive for all

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work, it was a privilege to be able to work with everyone in this department
