    Pros

Great benefits, Large company. Very diversified, always growing.

    Cons

Very little. Salaries are competitive. Maybe it might help to recruit more out of universities.

    Advice to Management

    Keep doing a good job!

    Pros

The best company that I have worked for, without question. ITW is a very ethical company with fair compensation, good communication from management and an excellent vision and operating model for running a business.

    Cons

ITW tends to over-value internal people for higher level positions, which at times can leave newly "acquired" employees (through one of ITW's nearly 50 acquisitions per year) feeling minimized. This is a minor issue for most of the acquired employees, however.

    Advice to Management

Be more open minded about the types of people that are permitted to be part of the management team. Focusing only on career-long ITW employees may leave the management team without enough variety of experiences.

I worked at Illinois Tool Works full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent working environment, constantly learning. Second term at the tech center got more demanding which in my opinion was good. Great management. Much better then an internship that just has you filing, you will get to work hands on and on actual projects.

    Cons

Work load varied. Occasionally a week of lots to do and a week with very little to do. My understanding is the internship experience varies greatly with who you're working under.

    Pros

Business pilosophy is simple, focused, and effective. Those that get it, love t and enjoy working at ITW. ITW drives earnings by driving the business philosophy into the over 800 autonomous divisions and letting them drive their success. The corporate culture is suportive and lacks the bureaucratic interfearance typical of an organiztion this size. They value their people!

    Cons

The autonomous philosophy permits a select few businesses to opperate outside the norm, which has allowed a few bad apples to linger in management positions. The good news is that the results oriented business phiosophy catches up with them after some time. All in all,an excellent place to work.

    Advice to Management

Cull out the non performing, fast talking managers sooner, so you do not lose too many excellent employees. Keep up the personal sincere apprach to management. Do not lose the open, fast paced, and inclusive environment.
