I have been working at Imagination Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    fresh design work
    not a huge company

    Cons

IT infrastructure needs much improvement. They are working on it.

    Advice to Management

Get your US employees working harder. There is a decided lack of motivation in some departments, it seems.

Work from home should be treated as follows.....
You can have work from home, but not on Monday or Friday (seems to blend into a long wknd).
work-from-home is a privilege. You should be able to come into the office on those days. For any recurring weekly work-from-home day, there should be an automatic program that with some probability (maybe 10%, but manager could set), will reject the work-from-home and send email that worker should go in that day. (Too many folks act like they are entitled to it and are inflexible. When I hear a meeting that is going to be set up and someone says "Oh, that is my work from home day, and the mtg gets pushed out, it makes me want to become manager and kick some butt. With some random roll of the dice that work-from-home may be retracted at any time, every work-from-home-er knows that they might have to go into work that day and they don't plan a day full of errands. It'll keep ppl on their toes.) Face-to-face communication is very important. Yahoo did the right thing by reeling in work-from-home.

There is talk the IMG is too tight on salaries. IMG-US has lost some stellar people in the US, afaik.

I have been working at Imagination Technologies full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

There are some really great things about working here. The people and atmosphere is pleasant, and except when there's a deadline, it's easy for work to be fairly flexible. A good place for someone with a family or dependents.

    Cons

Imagination doesn't really value its employees. Salaries are low, career progression is almost non-existent, and projects are managed badly leading to wasted effort and frustration. These could be fixed if management took a more proactive approach and realized that they need to invest in their greatest asset.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to your employees and get to know them better. Invest in training, career progression, sort out your atrocious project management and make Imagination a place where people are getting more from working there than just a below-average salary.

I worked at Imagination Technologies (Less than a year)

    Pros

Interesting projects in the CPU and GPU design fields. Very good canteen and very nice new buildings in Kings Langley.

    Cons

After the recent acquisition of MIPS, the processes and projects were still quite muddled.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees and train your managers to be actual managers, especially people skills.

I have been working at Imagination Technologies full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Img definitely boost your skills. I did started here as a graduate engineer and the amount of skills and useful things I've learned here is huge.

    Cons

After 4 to 5 years of working for IMG, the prospects of career development become not very common and the feeling of "getting stuck" becomes pretty noticeable.

    Advice to Management

Project analisedneeds to be analysed to assess if the person in charge is actually the most idoneus one. Many projects have managers that "happen to be there" for historical reasons more than for their management skills. That delays projects and make engineers unhappy.

I have been working at Imagination Technologies full-time

    Pros

Excellent work quality; high quality development work from scratch on latest technologies. Good work-life balance; flexi timings

    Cons

No rotation among teams makes work monotonous after some time.
Management is little narrow-minded about giving higher designations even to deserving candidates; while higher job responsibilities are given

    Advice to Management

Should be more open to giving people a chance to work in different sub-teams/projects as per their interest; should also be more open-minded about promotions

I have been working at Imagination Technologies full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

For the short stay I have had until now with the company I'm more satisfied then not. Mainly because as a young engineer I'm seeking to gain knowledge over money.
The company gives a unique work experience, it is a top dog on the mobile graphics market. The work tasks are very complex and require a certain amount of time to be spent before even starting doing something as easy as changing one line of code.
People are in general very helpful and most of the senior and principal guys aren't afraid of sharing the Do's and Don'ts.
Work and life balance is also very good - no white nights, no excessive extra hours spend after work.
In general very good company for new comers like me to learn, give back and create valuable relationships and connections.

    Cons

The management and hierarchical system is very chaotic and without any basic goals to be obtained before stepping up the ladder. In other words you can receive very good appraisals but be stuck at a position for many years just because your personal manager doesn't stick up to you or don't know how to play the office managerial politics game.
Salaries are bellow the average for the sector and the company knows it. They also know that the work is very complex but also if you have the passion for graphics hardware or software you don't really have that many options.
In general a demotivating environment for old employees who work a lot but don't shout it out.

    Advice to Management

Give clear objectives how and when people should progress. It can be really demotivating for a senior employee to see how the company at least on the side seem to cherish more the new comers. And I'm saying that from the position of a new comer.
Maybe include a bonus system so teams that do great are rewarded appropriately.
Obviously salary increases to at least follow the industry average would be nice too.
