Very entrepreneurial job and a culture that pushes you to work the extra mile. Learned a lot about business and received many opportunities to grow professionally.
Cons
Doing sales in a retail setting

Pros
Great if you believe the word “marketing” actually means sales.
Cons
The company is not a marketing agency of any sort. They contract with big box retail-wholesalers like Costco & Sam’s Club to sell things like cell phones, beauty supplies, etc. There is some sort of overarching organization to which Imminent somehow reports to, yet it is not clear who exactly these people are. A Google search doesn’t return anything; it has pyramid scheme vibes. They will reach out to you from Indeed or another job hunting platform, and make it seem as though you’ve actually applied when you haven’t. They’re essentially taking advantage of those who are applying to jobs en masse. You accept the interview because you’re taking any of them that come in. They will also make a point to brag about the various different academic and career paths of their employees, but I wonder about the legitimacy of these claims. Why would an engineer want to sell cell phones in Costco? They’re better off entering rare disease biopharma sales, where they’ll be paid for their skillset. You are not given any sort of salary, benefits, etc until you are promoted to “management”, which essentially means “shift manager”. I would argue that you’re better off working for AT&T directly at one of their locations, where you’re actually provided with tangible benefits, and the possibility of genuine upward mobility if you so choose that career path. I’ll never forget the owner’s initial question on the first day: “Can you tell me the difference between good turnover and bad turnover?” My brain immediately goes: “Hmm, trick question. There is no such thing as good turnover. It means HR and management didn’t hire the right person for the job.” Nope. The answer was that good turnover is when somebody leaves because the job isn’t for them. Well, fiscally, that’s moronic. The time and money wasted on the interview and hiring process can only be justified for one reason: you know full well that most are not going to stay, and it’s already factored in. When somebody does, it makes up for the loss of 9 others. I’m actually quite disappointed in myself that I didn’t see the sham until I was actually brought in. Luckily, I had other options: I was hired by an actual firm with fantastic benefits, where I am actually running PPC advertising campaigns, developing audiences, working on SEO projects, utilizing my analytics skills in Tableau, writing programs in Python, and using the latest AI tech. In other words - it’s an actual advanced marketing job.
Continue readingYeah, I mean it's tough when two people just have such a fundamentally different viewpoints; usually there's little that can be accomplished from moving forward. We literally say everything we do in three rounds of interviews, including everything you listed here, so that there's no confusion. Ultimately, when you have 40 years of Corporate America experience such as yourself, it can be tough to switch over to a different experience. Make no mistake about it, this is not a Corporate America job. This is much more of an entrepreneurial program, a program that focuses heavily on personal and professional development and mentorship, and as a result, (like we explicitly stated in our third round interview), is frequently for those in the first several years of their career based on the environment. It will never be more someone who is expecting more of a Corporate America experience, and since we love love love our entrepreneurial thinkers, we think that's ok! But we're so glad you found an actual advanced marketing job - sounds like it's really a super fit for you - good luck, to you!

Great Experience, Great People
Sep 20, 2022 - Marketing AssociateRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
If you’re a hard working person, you will love and get so much out of the program here. It’ll challenge you, but the support is so strong. Everyone has trainers, everyone has mentors, and Kim is super accessible. I overall have felt really supported since day 1 and felt like I’ve truly been communicated with a lot of transparency. I also have been treated with a lot of empathy. While going through some tough family stuff recently, leadership was very understanding and accommodating. The most important thing to me was finding a good job with a good culture and to have found one with growth at the same time, I am super happy about that. I was between two positions after some offers, and I went with this one for more of the learning opportunity, and no regrets.
Cons
If you’re not really self managed you’re going to have a tough time. Things are explained well but you have to have follow through, you have to be intense in your own accountability. If you’re looking for a clock in clock out job, you will also not be happy. This is more of an educational program, and having been here for four months I would say that’s where any negative review comes from - someone who has expectations of a job, enters a personal development program, so of course it’s not what they expect. If you’re expectations seem pretty clear from the interview process/with what I’m saying, then you’ll be in good shape.

Other new hires are extremely nice. There are good times where you network with GREAT people OUTSIDE of the office!
Cons
Kim the ceo sleeps with some of her staff to promote them. She’s a racist. If you do research on Kim York/Kim Paul, you’ll find everything you need to know about how she runs her businesses online. The company doesn’t believe in a work life balance. You still have to come to work even when you’re sick or if you have funerals to attend. They don’t care about you. They only care about the money you make them.

Promise a lot, offer too little.

- book club - understanding and intelligent leader - gain sales experience
Cons
- drive way too much (you have to drive to the office first, and then drive to a Costco or Sam’s, where you stand all day selling AT&T or other products to people) - they offer you to level up within the company after 4 weeks but that isn’t realistic considering the fact you have to get a lot sales first

Oh no! We’re sorry your experience didn’t meet your expectations. At the same time, the two most recent promotions, just last week, had been with our firm for exactly four weeks. We can only quote the most common promotion times; we will always tailor the individual’s own promotion time to their learning curve and their progress. Thanks for your feedback.

Successful People who push you to be the best you can be and achieve success
Aug 29, 2022 - MarketingRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Mentorship is a huge part of this company and what they do here is great because there was never a time where i asked for help and didn't get it. Learning the skills in marketing and sales through systems helps to make it an easy way, to break out of your comfort zone and enjoy what you're doing. Open and honest communication and having fun are true to the core values in this company because everyday I was there it was always a fun good time. If a person comes in with a student mentality then success will come easily to that person and the sky is the limit.
Cons
One thing would be the toll that setting up events and working them can have on a person. Schedule wise I think that they can make it a bit more flexible on a person that is going to commit to work 7 days a week.

Pros
Kim York is amazing and the team she has built. She makes sure everyone is included and having fun in the office and at our events. At imminent the mangers really help you with your opportunity advancement in the industry. This 6-8 month program helps not only ur professional development but your personal development. And it is really amazing how the leaders in the company show u how you are growing. There’s a quote that I love and that’s If you fail, never give up because F.A.I.L means first attempt in learning; end is not the end, in fact E.N.D means Effort never dies; if you get no as a answer, remember N.O means next opportunity. Imminent is a prime example of character and integrity.
Cons
No cons for imminent great company and fast growth advancement

Mislead, DO NOT WORK HERE
Aug 22, 2022 - Marketing Associate in Lombard, ILRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
They have a book club.
Cons
The job description was extremely misleading. If you enjoy harassing people at Costco to sell certain number of like fans, then this is the job for you. Went in thinking this was going to provide good marketing experience. Started by memorizing a scripted sales pitch for oscillating fans. Then had to drive to a Costco to set up the aisle display and stop everyone who passed in hopes that we could sell like 200 units. Very disappointed with what the job ended up being plus they pay was absolutely horrible. They make it sound like you will be making decent money when you interview, but it’s not the case. Straight up felt like I was scammed. Oh, and they will talk about entrepreneurship and growth but don’t expect it. DO NOT WORK HERE!!! SAVE YOUR SELF. Oh, and the “office” is just a suite (one large room and a reception area) with wipe off boards on all four walls. Hope you like standing. Such a joke of a company.

We’re so confused - are you sure you have the right company? We have never sold oscillating fans in our history, our office has four private offices, a conference room, a classroom and a lobby… but oscillating fans…? We are so confused. We would be happy to communicate further at hr@imminentil.com please!

Pros
There is nothing at all.
Cons
This place is a joke and a scam. Not a marketing company. It’s a sales company. What’s extremely pathetic is that whenever there is negative review/s is posted, they cover them up by paying the employees (whoever is still left) to post a fake, positive one. When this gets posted, watch there be a fake positive one, just to save face. Also, you’re going to be making pennies. (Aka minimum wage). It’s like slave labor for how much you’d be making and for everyday lol. The CEO should be ashamed of themselves for allowing all of this manipulation take place. I don’t need to explain it the cases of manipulation. Just read literally all of these negative reviews and it should tell you enough.

Thank you for providing your feedback. We are very sorry to hear about your experience. We do both sales and marketing, we tell everyone that first thing when they are in a preliminary interview so as to not have any confusion. Our average person out of training makes $800/week right now, it is an entry level position indeed. To address your comments about the validity of our online reviews, we literally have never paid an employee in our history to post a review. Again, sorry to hear about your negative experience and we hope you find something that you love to do!
