    Pros

    Central location for St Marys
    Good social life
Some hard working, dedicated and pleasant staff in mid-level jobs
Reputation of old still carries weight on CV

    Cons

Where to start. Awful organisation that treats staff appallingly. Exec are completely removed from reality. So many Projects not completed and/or completely unsuccessful. Disgusting amount spent on contractors that did not provide anything of much value. Observed a number of HR 'cover-ups' of bullying, incompetency and general unacceptable behaviour in the workplace.

    Advice to Management

Start again with Exec and Senior Management Teams, and stop trading on the reputation of old as it's not got much mileage left in the tank

    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Excellent medical staff, great clinical facilities

    Cons

Bullying culture within the non clinical staff base, systematic cover up of bullying and harrassment by senior management

    Advice to Management

Cut down on non-clinical agency staff that cant demonstrate any value

I have been working at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really high quality physicians wanting to do good work
Staff are there because they want to make a difference
Appears like a great place to work from outside the organisation

    Cons

Many staff feel that they aren't making a difference and are not valued
Poor quality care (CQC rated "needs improvement")
    Poor morale
Poor financial situation; In a deficit and may need to take a loan to pay staff
    High senior-level management turnover
Constant restructuring business restructuring, which distracts clinical staff and takes the focus away from how to actually turn things around, operationally and financially
    Limited / No staff development
    High agency use
    Low levels of autonomy
    Bullying is accepted

    Advice to Management

There is a reason private sector companies get paid significantly more than NHS managers...

I have been working at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Some of the hospitals are in good locations. Many of the staff are hardworking and friendly. NHS pensions are also a pro.

    Cons

Large organisation with competing agendas, priorities and requirements. The most tedious and absurd finance approval system ever.

    Advice to Management

Concentrate on enabling staff to do their job well. Remove the absurd barriers & restrictions that make it difficult for staff to perform well.

I worked at Imperial College Healthcare NHS Trust full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

In the NHS, with relative job security that comes with working in the public service. Though this comes at a price.

    Cons

Very badly organised. Poor staff support. Often short-staffed which places extra stresses on those who stay and turn up for work.

    Advice to Management

Good management is sorely needed. Staffing levels need to improved.

    Cons

    long hours, on call shift

"The medical staff do a great job (like most NHS medics do), it's just the administration problem."

    Pros

    From admin perspective:
    Generally good work/life balance.
    Good holiday.
    Management respect employees.
    Job security.

    Cons

    From admin perspective:
    Typical NHS gravy train.
    Management respect employees too much.
    Lack of organisational direction/communication.
    No decent promotional/training/advancement prospects.
Probably more challenging/exciting if you're medical staff.

    Advice to Management

Get the administration of the Trust sorted (e.g. better leadership/management, communication, organisational direction, efficiency, professionalism).
