    Pros

Company leadership is open & honest. Focus is on safety, quality, utilizing assets, and reducing & eliminating waste to be the low cost producer.

    Cons

Change! If you do not like change this may not be a good fit! Developing a Continuous Improvement Culture is a high priority.

    Advice to Management

Make yourself visible to all. Develop a culture that empowers the employee and drives ownership of the business to the factory floor.

    Pros

None. Clearly that have no concern for individuals. They are only concerned about making a dollar. No compassion for others. There is no postives.

    Cons

Multiple. Inconsiderate. Have 0 compassion for people. Lie, all about the dollar. Not any concern for employees, unethical. Unrealistic goals

    Advice to Management

All about money, do not care about their employees.

I have been working at Imperial Tobacco full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Good brands, global organization, average pay/benefits. The tobacco industry is not for the faint of heart, but if you thrive on challenge and change, it can be very rewarding.

Company and brands with loads of growth potential in the US, but not confident that the correct leadership/strategies are in place yet to make it happen. Wouldn't trade a minute of the last 10 years, but excited to escape the 'growing pains' to come and move on to the next chapter in my career. Good Luck to my former CA family.

    Cons

Buy a small, successful, streamlined company...insert incompetent leadership ... add layer after layer of unnecessary complexity ... micromanage from across the pond...talk the talk, but don't walk the walk about company culture and values ....and then act surprised at the results...SERIOUSLY?

    Advice to Management

Alison - giving your 'heartfelt' thanks to people for all of their hard work, without which the deal could have never happened, comes off as really cold and heartless when it's been merely hours since you notified hundreds of those same people that the actual result of all their hard work was to be displaced by someone they helped you acquire as part of the deal.

I have been working at Imperial Tobacco full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people. Outstanding Medical benefits. Somewhat flexible with time.
Employees are always open to adapt and follow new strategies. There's will.
Stock could be higher if practices are more organized all across the globe.

    Cons

They have an Ivory Tower syndrome: Trying to decide from the UK what's best for every market in the world when THEY DON'T KNOW THE LOCAL MARKETS. If you reflect on this, you can see why they're limiting growth and success.
Career aspirations are not taken seriously. It is mandatory to include them in the performance appraisals but nothing happens after that. There are no serious budgets for training.
Disorganized/ Bureocratic/ politically charged company. Sales and Marketing strategies are weak at best. They keep changing every quarter or so (how are you going to measure success with so little time).
The process to get investments approved is ridiculously bureaucratic and inefficient (they confuse being 'cost conscious' with fiscally responsible). Example: You can get a budget approved for a project by all levels. However, they can take away those funds at any point during the project. This creates a lot of risk of work not being delivered as planned and affects many areas of the business. I don't think they believe in best practices.

    Advice to Management

Stop the 'DO AS I SAY, NOT AS I DO' modus operandi.
You have great people who are willing to follow leaders with charisma.
BE MORE FLEXIBLE WITH MANAGEMENT IN LOCAL MARKETS (especially the US = now your bigger market )
    Embrace change

    Redundancy. It's a shrinking market.

    Advice to Management

You've lost some knowledgeable, talented employees through redundancy.

    Pros

    Ok salary,
    Travel,
    Flexible working,
Will go places if you are the managers pet,

    Cons

Better people are over looked for jobs because the manager has given job to another applicatant who is a buddy.
Sales managers / coaches really do nothing, these guys are just yes people who add no benefit to the business.
Management have each other's back at all levels, they even protect the weakest of junior management when they make major failures.

    Advice to Management

Managers favourites aren't always the best, the drinking buddies always getting drunk at companies exspense at team meetings / events etc..
To my managers doing nothing of importance.
