I have been working at Impinj full-time for more than a year

    Pros

-state-of-the-art building -free snacks and drinks -smart and nice people

    Cons

    - No 401K match - Little to no performance review. Underachievers seem to be given a free pass as long as they’re part of the ‘in’ crowd or suck up to management - Very little directive in sticking to and hitting project milestones - but because of the lack of performance feedback, there’s not much incentive for employees to stay those extra hours when needed and hit those milestones - Project management is disorganized,...

    Advice to Management

    - Implement performance reviews more often, so employees get feedback, so people who are underperforming can up their performance and the best employees get rewarded and incentivized to keep working hard - The focus should be on getting things done and getting products out the door, and not letting process overhead get in the way - Need to stick to deadlines

I have been working at Impinj full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

If you keep a low profile you can work here as much or little as you like and have a have a relatively comfortable life.

    Cons

Leadership consist of people not willing or capable to make decisions. Vision consists of "me too" phrases, a random walk from digital life to what was last shared as a vision of chained custody of an item. The company is far, if not years behind with the execution on any of these visions. The current software product has little value in the global market and ecosystem. The leadership lately believes it can drive proprietary...

I have been working at Impinj full-time

    Pros

Unlimited time off if you're getting your work done. Laid back.

    Cons

Management (typically not upper management, but middle management) seems less likely to propagate job relevant information from the top level decisions down to you. Your choices are drink from the unfiltered firehose of management decisions or wait for decisions to impact you after the fact.

    Advice to Management

The most useful job that management can do on a daily basis is to relay filtered information regarding decisions that get made that impact any individual or team to that needs to know it. We don't need every single decision.

I have been working at Impinj full-time

    Pros

Unlimited PTO, Free soda and snacks, Nice office with views of Lake Union and the Space Needle, Free bagels on Friday mornings

    Cons

Management is unfocused and is extremely political. Good luck having conversations with management that are open and honest. Toxic culture, with lots of backstabbing, passive aggressive behavior, and many managers who do not take their responsibilities seriously. Performance management is non-existent. Many road blocks are in the way to effectively get work done. Some people guard their way of doing things as the best...

I have been working at Impinj full-time

    Pros

Pleasant new building in South Lake Union. Unlimited time off, though some people abuse it.

    Cons

This is the most toxic and unprofessional company that I have ever worked for. I am in an engineering role but have experienced constant political games, back-stabbing, passive-aggressive behavior, good old boys clubs, rude and ridiculous behavior. It is often hard to get the job done while juggling emotional drama and political push-back on every decision. The management is a combination of inexperienced or checked-out,...

    Advice to Management

You're going to have to seriously clean house and get some fresh perspectives here if things are going to improve. Do it before you lose your best engineering people.

I have been working at Impinj full-time

    Pros

They have free snacks. Unlimited vacation although it is not really unlimited.

    Cons

Terrible place to work. Very toxic environment. They are to bogged down with process to actually get things out the door. Some not all Directors are very poor, they do not know how to manage people or get projects done. They have been hiring people that are not qualified as Sr. Executives. Have seen mass exodus of executives which should be a big clue to anyone coming in. Company is ripe for a take over.

    Advice to Management

Need to bring in Sr. Executives that have worked in bigger companies. Need a business CEO that knows what they are doing to take the company forward.

I have been working at Impinj full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

This is the best place that I have worked, and I have worked for several companies, including two of the biggest in the technology field in the Seattle area. Impinj has a great company culture that hits the right side of the work/life balance, and a nice mix of hardware and software folks that are surprisingly diverse and have fun working together. The challenge that Impinj is tackling is something that I can believe...

    Cons

No 401(k) match, yet. No match for employee charitable donations or volunteer time, which is to be expected for a company of this size.

    Advice to Management

Don't let our stock investors, including me, distract you from the long-range view and the investments that we are making in research and development. As successful as our IPO was, I would much rather wait to see us realize those really big, world-changing goals.

I worked at Impinj full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Well stocked snack bar & kitchen area. And I mean so well stocked the 6-figure salaried software engineers who can certainly afford snacks have been seen stuffing their backpacks after everyone else is mostly gone for the day - Unlimited PTO for nearly whatever reason. Do you have a doctor's appt? Repairman coming over? Need to take three weeks off to go cave diving in Australia? Sure.. there's no bank of sick or vacation...

    Cons

    - The pay is subpar. In fact, they almost tout this as a badge of honor. They will pretty much tell you that if you want to make lots of money, Impinj is not the place to be. So...you're telling me you know you pay poorly, and don't care. But it's cool though, they use the unlimited PTO and the snackbar as ways to woo 'talent' from the other competitors in the area - Recruiting and hiring is a disorganized hot mess....

    Advice to Management

Stop making useless VP positions. Break down the class structure - your support organizations are just as important as the eng and sales divisions. Bagel Fridays are time that could be better spent working. If you want to send out an update, do so in an email Transparency with people leaving and decisions about reposting positions at higher levels. It's demeaning when one of your supervisory staff leaves, and then...
