I worked at In The Raw full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Most of the staff is fairly friendly

You can get 50% off An appetizer, 2 entrees, and a dessert at all Scarpa restaurant concepts locations if you work for the BA location.

    Cons

There is no kitchen manager keeping up with inventory so lots of times they would run out of usable product and would have to resort to serving unripe/overripe food.

Head management seems inexperienced and has little people skills.

There is no real teamwork involved on the line, each chef grabs their own tickets in the order they come on a spindal.

Most of the servers have limited knowledge of the menu and will misinform customers as a result of that.

There is also a shortage of back of the house employees so most of the time they don't have enough people on the clock to handle the amount of business they get so they can avoid paying people overtime.

    Advice to Management

Get some real training going on.
Put forth any attempt to keep employees.
Communicate with staff on progress with hiring additional help.

    Pros

employee meals are always good, shots with the staff towards the end of a shift, owner cares for his employees and values initiative. flexible schedule

    Cons

micromanagement from the managers gets old, sexist work environment, the people that want to work and be there get punished by the rest of the staff by having to pull their weight

    Advice to Management

reward the punctual, initiative driven employees, take better care of the staff, allow the team to fail if necesary but be their to teach and train staff

I have been working at In The Raw full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great team oriented work environment. Management is awesome as well as the business owners. Large volumes of people especially weekends. Working at In the Raw is gratifying and I will always refer to my experiences.

    Cons

Working weekends is not everyones favorite thing to do. A lot of responsibility when it comes to the business in its entirety.

    Advice to Management

In the Raw is a fast pace, enjoyable place to hold a career. Enjoy your time while holding a management position, but use your views and goals throughout the restaurant.

I worked at In The Raw part-time

    Pros

Fun environment in downtown Oklahoma City. Very busy during basketball season, and weekends were great for making money. The restaurant closed at a reasonable hour, so no one was ever stuck at work until 3 in the morning, like many restaurants downtown. Closed on Sundays, unless there was a Thunder game, and the restaurant was only open for a few hours. Easy money.

    Cons

Management turnover was an issue for a while. Some nights were very busy and exhausting, and employees were overwhelmed when the staff was short. There was not a lot of structure, which can be fun, but it can also make things difficult.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work. I enjoyed working there and would recommend this location to anyone who is seeking a job waiting tables.

I worked at In The Raw part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good friends, respect for tenure, free food when things are made incorrectly, pretty flexible with hours (once you have been there a while)

    Cons

Lots of changing managers that were sometimes very catty and unprofessional, being hit on by regular customers all the time and having to be nice to them

    Advice to Management

Pay good managers a little more (or give better benefits) so they will stick around. Take more shifts actually working at the restaurant rather than eating there (you can't see everything if you aren't as hands-on obviously)

    Pros

    Fun environment
    Lax management style
    Half off food for employees
Opportunity to establish a set server schedule
    Easy to trade shifts

    Cons

Extreme favoritism between managers and servers, if you aren't friends, you won't get the shifts you want.
Incompetent mangers who don't help servers like they should when the restaurant is busy. The list is pretty long when it comes to these noted issues.
Sushi rollers aren't trained properly and are slower than slow which causes a chain reaction across the board, everyday.

    Advice to Management

Train sushi rollers and prep properly and continuously maintain their accuracy and speed by rewarding them. Hire competent managers and reward employees fairly.

    Pros

Great place to work and make good money. Managers are fun and understanding and most customers spend money resulting in good tips.

    Cons

New people are often not scheduled enough. Most customers are regulars so its best to stay on their good side.

    Advice to Management

Better communication. Remember the adage to praise in public correct in private and not embarrass workers in front of other people.

    Pros

really fun and energetic atmosphere. very modern inside with good music playing. fun, young people to work with. good pay and tips

    Cons

limited interaction between owner and management despite being locally owned and operated. therefore things are not taken care of in a timely manner

    Advice to Management

doing semi annual reviews of employees and give raises accordingly. establish some sort of criteria for raises so people have opportunities to work towards earning one.
