I worked at Independent Health full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

excellent people, short commute, job was actually good

    Cons

no room to grow, low pay

    Advice to Management

People who work hard don't get rewarded as they should , especially if they're not part of the "old boys network". People promoted on basis of friendship with no posting for the job

I have been working at Independent Health for more than a year

    Pros

You can't beat the health insurance. The other benefits are comparable. Certain departments are flexible with work/life balance. The company as a whole tries to make it enjoyable for their employees but most departments don't let their employees take part in the activities that the wellness department puts on

    Cons

No one appreciates you. No one cares about anything you do, whether good or bad. No point in trying or caring at all. No room for growth in certain departments, as it seems we are blacklisted and can't move out no matter how qualified we are. The pay is very bad compared to the same positions at other health insurance companies.

    Advice to Management

Introduce yourself to your employees. Get to know them and what their jobs are so that you can make improvements and create a team atmosphere. Don't treat us like peons

I have been working at Independent Health for less than a year

    Pros

Nice facade image of the company. The people are sometimes great to work with.

    Cons

The workload was unbearable and overwhelming at times. Favortism took place a lot with managers with the people they liked in their group. I was made to feel disposable and was often ignored. Be prepared to be left out a lot. I felt used, abused and hung out to dry after I did such a great job. I don't understand why they preferred lazy rude employees that complain all the damn time over hardworking individuals.... They smile to your face, but talk smack behind your back. Be very careful before deciding to work here because you ain't going to get no "red shirt" treatment. You are better off applying somewhere else because there's no room for advancement and you will be treated like an outsider. Run far far far away from this company.

    Advice to Management

Provide more training and advancement opportunities. Get rid of non-productive employees and learn how to retain good hardworking employees that actually care. Favortism is a huge problem there, so deal with this problem. There's too much bureaucracy from executives that won't allow teams to do their work effectively. Managers need to learn how to respect their employees better and not be too faced about it.

I worked at Independent Health full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good Benefits and Positive impact on the community

    Cons

No room for growth (although advertised throughout the entire company), lack of communication and collaboration throughout company departments, high level of bureaucracy, very hierarchical and treated according to title, little opportunity for training, high employee turnover, lack of HR support, uninvolved management (during the work week my supervisor would either be late or not show without notice and she seemed... to have little to no knowledge in the products that her team worked on. Department director and manger did not interact with the department so this did not allow communication to "higher ups" if needed for an issue. Management spent a lot of the week in meetings, sometimes off-site lasting the full work day. Management managed employees based on favoritism.) Overall was not the ideal place for me.
