I worked at Independent News for more than a year

    Pros

Very few to mention, in fact can't think of any. However if you are your manager's boot licker then it's a different ball game.

    Cons

Loads - Right from abuse from seniors, open humiliations, misbehaviours, exploitations it's an endless list. No one in the business is ready to listen to your problems. Be my stooge or I'll turn your life into hell is the message from the senior management.

I worked at Independent News full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Working time is flexible and some (not all) colleagues are friendly.

    Cons

The senior management very rude. They never have time or interest to listen to employees if approached about any problem. Newspaper circulation is declining and the company counts its profit from the online/digital sales. However they don't seem to have a clear road-map for this. The management seems to be totally confused. No proper selection/interview process so the candidates are hired randomly and have a high attrition rate.

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Independent News full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good intentions and growth in the struggling news industry. Where many papers are reluctant to tackle the digital realm full on, INM are investing heavily to gain market share. Decent about filling a role if a skillset is missing.

    Cons

Lack of permanent contracts, salary below industry standards. Investing in upper management but failing to put resources into the production/content end of things. New staff have no benefits, while older staff are quite often "set in their way" and harking back to the golden days of journalism in terms of work practices.
