I have been working at Index Fund Advisors full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The firm has an abundant amount of resources to help me grow my business as a Wealth Advisor. Whether it be charts, videos, calculators, or even custom marketing material, IFA takes care of me.

The firm is very proud of its position within the financial services industry. As an independent registered investment advisor, there is no conflict of interest between myself and my clients. It gives me peace of mind to know that I can focus on helping people versus being compensated for the product that I sell. IFA is very client centric.

There is also a lot of room for me to be creative in creating my business. Understanding that each advisor has their own style or niche, IFA can cater to all types of advisors.

    Cons

There are some growing pains, which are expected for a smaller company, but the vision has not wavered one bit. We are committed to providing clients the best investment experience possible that is rooted in being a fiduciary for our clients. And we embrace that. We are constantly trying to improve ourselves, but the overall vision is still very firm.

    Advice to Management

Try to spend more time strategically planning where we would like the firm to go. It is not easy in a small business, but I think we may get better results if we are not so quick to do or change something.

    Pros

Benefits, social aspect, people, and location is great. A good looking place with a good reputation in the industry. It is important that employees have a life away from work and there is no need to work late and weekends. A great balance between work and home life.

    Cons

You do not sense the leadership knows where the company is headed and is set on any one course. You feel as though there is one direction today, and perhaps it will go in a completely different direction tomorrow.

I worked at Index Fund Advisors as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

-they pay more than minimum wage for you to practically do nothing

    Cons

-sitting there scanning papers all day and filing

    Advice to Management

invest more in your interns and actually teach them something

    Pros

The company is strongly behind its investment philosophy. As an employee, the flexibility to be involved in multiple areas rather than being pigeonholed in one role was a major benefit.

The company's small atmosphere and flat structure are also big pluses. Great upbeat people overall with a passion for their work. Hopefully, these features have carried.

    Cons

Since it's a small company, for someone new in the industry who might benefit from a more structured environment, IFA may not be place if you're a college student looking for a summer internship. A bigger company with a training program where you can learn a lot fast may prove to be more advantageous.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the philosophy and strong vision for the firm. Continue to improve operational efficiency and remain open to employee ideas.
